The Fuel Store (TFS) is a progressive, Birmingham based business using technology to develop its market and stay ahead of the competition. It is on a mission to revolutionise the way business is conducted in its chosen business segments. The business is a leading provider of fuel and associated products into the transportation sector. TFS provides a range of products and solutions to its customers which help them to increase profits through increasing basket size, customer loyalty and usage; serving customers more efficiently and cost-effectively. It currently facilitates the provision of and processes the transactions to allow over 60 million litres of Fuel per annum through its card processes.

The business was started 10 years ago and to date has grown organically. Future development will be a combination of organic and inorganic growth offering its customers a carefully thought-out package of products with software that enables easy/dynamic/cost optimised fleet management at its core.

The business is very efficient and proudly operates with circa 50 colleagues whilst delivering over £70m of turnover. Colleagues operate at both the strategic and operational level often in the same meeting. The ability to ‘roll up your sleeves’ and deliver your own solutions is a hugely important asset to us.

A new CEO has been appointed with a strong track record of successful growth and he will lead the twin track approach of organic and inorganic growth.

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative  Data Analyst / AI Engineer  with deep expertise in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs) and Business Intelligence. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, collating and deploying data models to create financial value and opportunities for our business. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience delivering end to end data science solutions across enterprise technology environments to end data science solutions across enterprise technology environments

Basic Salary: Competitive

Location:  Birmingham, B2

Reports to:  Senior Business Analyst

Hybrid Model: 4 days in the office and 1 day at home. Therefore, we are not looking for anyone outside normal travel to work distance to Birmingham.

An individual comfortable leading AI projects end-to-end from ideation to deployment

Key Responsibilities  
Analyse large structured and unstructured datasets to extract insights, trends, and business value.

Design, build, and optimise AI pipelines, including LLM-powered applications, RAG systems, finetuning workflows.

Develop scalable production systems using Python, SQL, NoSQL, APIs for cloud infrastructure (Azure).

Develop AI Assistants and automation tools that enhance operational efficiency.

Education & Certifications  
Degree Qualified or demonstratable Azure environment experience.

Key Skills & Technologies  
Programming & Frameworks: SQL, NoSQL, FastAPI, Git & MS PowerApp Suite

AI: Classification, Regression, Clustering, Deep Learning, Time Series, LLM Agents, RAG

Cloud & Deployment: Azure AI, Databricks.

Data Visualization: Power BI, Excel, Copilot Studio
