Engineer - PSL

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As an Engineer within the Product Development division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, based at the Cheyyar-MSPT location, you will play a crucial role in supporting the crash lab operations and ensuring high standards of testing and safety compliance. Your key responsibilities will include:

- Providing technical support to suppliers during Installation and Commissioning (I&C) activities, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to project timelines.

- Understanding and interpreting detailed test requirements to effectively prepare various types of vehicles and components for crash testing.

- Overseeing and maintaining the crash test area, ensuring all procedures follow safety protocols and industry regulations.

- Supporting NABL accreditation processes by meticulously documenting procedures and ensuring compliance with established standards.

- Ensuring continuous uptime of the crash lab facilities by proactively managing equipment maintenance schedules and rapid troubleshooting.

- Monitoring and maintaining the operational readiness of all test equipment, optimizing functionality for reliable test results.

- Managing procurement of spare parts and consumables necessary for the seamless operation of the lab while maintaining budget oversight.

- Liaising with suppliers and external agencies to promptly address any technical issues and facilitate issue resolution.

- Preparing detailed budgets for facility enhancement projects and incorporating emerging technologies to keep the lab at the forefront of automotive safety testing.

Experience

The ideal candidate will bring 3 to 4 years of practical experience in a related field if holding a Bachelor of Engineering degree, or a minimum of 7 years if holding a Diploma, particularly within automotive crash testing or automotive safety validation domains.

Essential technical expertise and knowledge areas include:

- Comprehensive understanding of vehicle architecture and the integration of mechanical systems within modern automotive platforms.

- Profound knowledge of hydraulic systems relevant to crash testing and vehicle safety mechanisms.

- Familiarity with NABL accreditation standards and the processes involved in maintaining accreditation compliance.

- Hands-on experience with the tools and equipment commonly used in vehicle workshops and crash laboratories to conduct accurate and safe testing.

- Awareness and application of automotive safety and quality standards to ensure all procedures and outputs meet regulatory and company benchmarks.

- In-depth knowledge of crash safety regulations, ensuring that all testing aligns with national and international requirements.

- Direct experience with Crash and SLED testing methodologies, including test setup, execution, and data analysis.

Additional competencies such as problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and adaptability to evolving safety technologies are highly valued.

Industry Preferred

We prefer candidates with backgrounds in the following industries, where specialized knowledge of vehicle safety, testing protocols, and automotive design is paramount:

- Automotive Industry with experience in Research & Development (R&D), Design, or Calibration departments.

- Automotive Testing Agencies such as Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), where rigorous testing standards are maintained.

Candidates from these sectors will bring valuable insights into industry best practices and a strong understanding of vehicle safety testing standards.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess the following educational qualifications to be considered for this position:

- A Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree, majoring in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering from a recognized institution.

The educational foundation should equip the candidate with core engineering principles, supplemented by specialized knowledge in automotive systems and safety engineering.
