AI Engineer (AI & Automation Team)

We are seeking an AI Engineer to join our AI & Automation team. In this role, you'll design and build AI-based tools and systems for the retail business. You will take problems from the first stakeholder conversation through rapid prototyping cycles to a working solution that real users depend on, choosing the technique that fits each problem - LLMs and RAG, agents, computer vision, or classic machine learning.

This role involves owning solutions from idea to production: designing a solution with business analysts and stakeholders, building a POC quickly to prove value, then hardening it into a production-grade service. This is a hands-on engineering role - most of your week is spent building. You should be comfortable collaborating with both business and technical stakeholders, explaining technical choices to non-technical users, and contributing to the organization's broader digital transformation.

Responsibilities:

- Build and Innovate AI solutions for real business problems, from first prototype to production
- Collaborate with business analysts to turn stakeholder needs into a working demo, then iterate on it with real users
- Apply a range of AI techniques - LLMs and RAG, agents, computer vision, classic machine learning and choose the one that fits the problem
- Deploy and maintain solutions on Azure, and improve existing ones as processes evolve

Requirements:

- 2+ years of hands-on software development experience •
- Experience with AI-assisted development (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor)
- An ownership mindset - you hold the solutions you build to a high standard of quality, testing what you ship and fixing what breaks
- Solid programming skills in at least one modern language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python or similar)
- Practical understanding of how LLMs behave in production - prompting, structured outputs, RAG and vector search, evaluation, failure modes
- Experience with REST APIs, Git and Docker
- Excellent communication in Lithuanian and English
- Confidence working directly with business stakeholders and translating their needs into technical solutions.

Nice to have:

- Practical experience building Generative-AI-based solutions or Machine Learning technologies
- Experience building agentic setups - Agentic tools, plugins, MCP servers
- Experience with Azure or another cloud platform, and with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with LLM frameworks and tooling such as LangChain, LlamaIndex or Azure AI services
- Experience with computer vision or classic ML models

Salary:

€3,500–€4,500 gross (before taxes). The final salary will be agreed individually, based on the candidate’s experience.
