Senior Exploration Geologists

Position : Senior Exploration Geologists.

Reports to : Subsurface/ Exploration Manager.

JOB SUMMARY

Candidate is required to support the OML 30 exploration/Appraisal portfolio rejuvenation efforts and to fully evaluate deeper prospects.
The successful candidate will bring an in-depth knowledge of Niger Delta geology combined with relevant exploration and development experience. We are looking for a strong team player with creativity, enthusiasm and self-motivation to support the Exploration efforts
The role will involve detailed seis-strat interpretation in focused areas using newly reprocessed 3D seismic data, comprehensive review of deeper horizon geology, develop conceptual depositional models building on the current exploration framework study. In the event of exploration success the candidate could be involved in appraisal of team activities.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

An Exploration geologist is required to rejuvenate the exploration portfolio based on a solid approach to Play, Lead and Prospect assessments. We seek an enthusiastic, self-motivated and keen team player to support the Exploration efforts.
*Exploration prospect and Appraisal well maturation for drilling, including well proposal, drilling operation support, data acquisition and interpretation, modelling and updates,
*Post well evaluation - AAR and EoWR.
*Support the regulatory approval and remain compliance at all time
*Support reserve assessment, evaluation, ARPR update.
*Interface with internal and external stakeholders
*Selection of drilling location for exploration wells
*Develop new and comprehensive depositional and geological models that will be applied to reservoir risk assessments and pore pressure prediction.
*Identifying new and review existing exploration opportunities to grow the portfolio of uSFR opportunities.
*Adhere to HSSE policy and maintain vigilance toward HSE issues, in particular during geological field trips and site visits and actively contribute to enhancing work efficiency and job description.

*The role will involve detailed seismic interpretation of block wide high-quality 3D data, newplay generation, lead and prospect identification.

*Replenishment of the exploration funnel with new opportunities is required.

*To engage/contribute to the studies of the depositional environment and deeper horizons.

*Identify new exploration plays, lead and prospect generation.

*Studies of NFE areas – PPLs in OML 30 (including special and review studies).

*Adding, by identifying new or evaluating current deep & NFE opportunities, additional new economic scope to replace the SFR expectation drilled away and to grow the portfolio of opportunities.

*Provide operational support during the well operations activity.

*Ensure that all technical work is carried out to requisite level of quality, in the most efficient way and conform to industry minimum standard and the Exploration maturation process.

QUALIFICATION

Required - Graduate in Earth Sciences. Detailed technical expertise, competent knowledge in the subsurface discipline and a proven track record in oil and gas exploration are necessary. The candidate needs to be a true team player and be able to work effectively in diverse a team with different nationalities. Preferred - Post graduate in Earth Sciences. Deepwater appraisal and development geological expertise will be an advantage. Previous experience in a position requiring knowledge of the interface with Petroleum Engineering and Front-End Engineering will also be helpful.

At least 10-12 years oil industry. Minimum of 6 years' experience in seis-strat and sequence stratigraphic interpretation is required. A geologist with proven evaluation (exploration and development) experience. Additional experience in acreage assessment and prospect evaluation will be desirable. Relevant experience in Tertiary deltas geology will be expected.
