About this role

The Senior Production Chemistry Engineer provides practical production-chemistry support for Mutriba wells, well testing, gathering and transportation facilities, commissioning and routine operations. The role identifies and manages credible fluid-related risks, recommends proportionate monitoring and chemical treatments, and coordinates specialist or laboratory support when deeper expertise is required.
The principal expected threats include H2S and CO2 service, corrosion, hydrate formation, inorganic scale, possible asphaltene and wax deposition, solids and possible emulsion problems. The role also evaluates compatibility when fluids from different wells or reservoirs are mixed. Because the Contractor system is intended primarily to transport untreated multiphase fluids, the role does not assume bulk sweetening or oil, gas and water separation within Contractor facilities.

Production Chemistry and Flow Assurance
•    Maintain a risk-based production chemistry plan covering wells, wellheads, flowlines, manifolds, trunklines, temporary well-test equipment and the agreed handover point.
•    Review available fluid, PVT, SARA, water and well-test data; identify uncertainties and request only the additional analyses needed for safe and reliable decisions.
•    Assess fluid-mixing compatibility and credible risks from corrosion, hydrates, scale, asphaltenes, wax, sulfur/iron sulfide, solids and emulsions.
•    Define practical operating limits, surveillance indicators and escalation triggers with Production Engineering, Operations, Facilities and Integrity.

Sampling, Laboratory and Monitoring
•    Define representative and safe sampling requirements for sour pressurized fluids, produced water, deposits and chemical residuals.
•    Coordinate laboratory testing, sample preservation, chain of custody and QA/QC; verify that results are traceable to the well and operating condition.
•    Trend chemistry and operating data, diagnose deviations and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
•    Maintain concise, auditable records of samples, analyses, treatment rates, chemical use, deposits and investigations.

Chemical Treatment Programs
•    Recommend and optimize fit-for-purpose treatment programs such as corrosion or scale inhibition, hydrate prevention, asphaltene/wax control, demulsification or other treatment when supported by evidence.
•    Prepare technical requirements and support evaluation of chemicals, laboratories and service providers. Specialist testing may be outsourced.
•    Coordinate laboratory qualification and field trials; check compatibility with fluids, metallurgy, elastomers and other chemicals.
•    Monitor treatment effectiveness, injection availability, consumption, stock requirements, cost and supplier performance.

Facilities, Commissioning and Well Testing
•    Provide production-chemistry input to design reviews for sampling points, chemical injection, chemical storage, corrosion monitoring, pigging, flushing and temporary connections.
•    Participate as the chemistry representative in HAZID, HAZOP, operability, commissioning, start-up and management-of-change reviews.
•    Support hydrotest-water, preservation, cleaning, line-fill, first-fluid and start-up chemistry planning.
•    Define chemistry requirements for well clean-up and testing, including contamination control, safe sour-fluid sampling, solids/deposit monitoring and data-quality assurance.
•    Provide technical support for production-rate testing while leaving contractual interpretation, KPI entitlement and formal client commitments to authorized management.

Operations Support and Governance
•    Support start-up, shutdown, restart, depressurization, low-flow operation, well changeover, commingling, pigging and loss-of-chemical-injection scenarios.
•    Lead routine troubleshooting and coordinate operations, HSE, Integrity, Production Engineering, laboratories or specialists for complex cases.
•    Support incident and failure investigations, root-cause analysis and verification of corrective actions.
•    Prepare clear technical reports, dashboards, procedures, budget inputs and recommendations for internal and client reviews.
•    Promote QHSE compliance, knowledge transfer and effective collaboration with KOC, contractors and suppliers.
•    be assumed.

Key Deliverables
•    Production Chemistry Management Plan and risk register
•    Sampling and laboratory-analysis plan
•    Fluid compatibility and commingling assessment
•    Monitoring and chemical-treatment program with performance criteria
•    Facilities and commissioning chemistry review records
•    Well-test chemistry readiness checklist and quality-controlled data package
•    Monthly chemistry performance, chemical inventory and action report
•    Investigation reports and lessons learned, when required
