Overview In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day, and we need you as a Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist, Fiber Network Inventory & Data Governance.As a GIS Specialist, you will help maintain the accuracy, integrity, and governance of Microsoft EMEA’s fiber network inventory in 3-GIS and associated enterprise systems. You will work across Fiber Delivery, Outside Plant Telecom Engineering, suppliers, sourcing, and network stakeholders to ensure delivered assets are captured, validated, and kept current so that delivery, reporting, planning, procurement, and long-term asset management are supported by trusted geospatial and inventory data. This opportunity will allow you to deepen your expertise in fiber network inventory, enterprise GIS governance, data quality, and automation while contributing to standardized, scalable delivery processes across EMEA and global programs. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.‌ Responsibilities <ul><li>Manage and maintain fiber network inventory in 3-GIS throughout the project lifecycle, including routes, cables, splice points, structures, racks, design data, as-built information, and approved design changes.</li><li>Validate topology, attributes, connectivity, ownership, capacity, and inventory integrity; perform quality audits and corrective actions to improve the accuracy and completeness of GIS records.</li><li>Manage, convert, transform, and validate geospatial datasets including File Geodatabases, GeoPackages, KML/KMZ, and other GIS formats for enterprise use and system integration.</li><li>Review supplier GIS submissions, provide QA/QC feedback, clarify Microsoft GIS schema and delivery expectations, and coordinate with FDEs, OSPTEs, supplier project managers, sourcing teams, and network stakeholders to resolve data issues.</li><li>Identify and support automation of GIS workflows, validation processes, reporting, and data remediation activities to reduce manual effort and improve consistency across regions and delivery programs.</li><li>Create and maintain GIS process documentation, workflow guides, standards, and user training materials; support onboarding and adoption of GIS best practices across the organization.</li><li>Support project delivery milestones by ensuring GIS inputs, updates, and inventory readiness are planned and completed in alignment with fiber acceptance and downstream operational requirements.</li></ul> Qualifications Required Qualifications<ul type="disc"><li>Bachelor's Degree AND proven experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.</li><li>Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.</li><li>Experience with 3-GIS or telecommunications inventory platforms.</li><li>Knowledge of fiber network design, splicing, OSP/ISP infrastructure, route management, and supplier-delivered GIS data QA/QC.</li><li>Experience with automation or data integration using Python, SQL, Kusto, ArcPy, GIS APIs, or reporting tools.</li><li>Knowledge of enterprise asset management, network inventory systems, data remediation, and scalable GIS operating procedures.</li></ul>Background Check Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: <ul type="disc"><li>Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. </li></ul> Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Spain is € 63,100.00 - € 107,600.00 per year.
