The Transaction Banking Legal team is seeking an experienced attorney to provide legal support to Goldman Sachs’ new and globally-expanding Transaction Banking business. Transaction Banking is reimagining treasury leveraging modern technology and a cloud-native, API-first platform to deliver digital payments, FX, and liquidity solutions to corporates and financial institutions. Primary responsibilities will include advising on legal issues in connection with development and expansion of TxB products and services, advice on strategy and business decisions, conduct review on customer facing material, provide guidance on new and existing regulations, and drafting/negotiating/executing client agreements.

This attorney must be experienced in contract negotiation and comfortable engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Experience with financial services, product development, payments or cash management products would be a plus.

Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the review and negotiation of client contracts, as well as updating and maintaining TxB contract templates and negotiation playbooks;
- Advise on the development and expansion of TxB products and services, including the impact of new and existing regulations, while helping to advise on legal risks related to operational flows such as client on-boarding processes;
- Provide support for client service/operations, business governance, and customer communications
- Review customer facing materials, including guides, forms and marketing materials
- Timely identify, escalate and communicate issues to senior members of the business and legal department
- Coordinate and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders to identify and help mitigate legal, regulatory and reputational risks
- Instruct/work with/manage external counsel

Qualifications:

- 3-7 years of experience at a leading law firm or equivalent experience at a large financial institution.
- J.D. required; active member of the New York or Texas State Bar in good standing.
- Excellent communications skills
- Team player with inherent commercial judgment and strong analytical skills.
- Highly motivated and adaptable, including detail-oriented, organizational skills and the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under tight deadlines.
- Ability to engage proactively as an advisor to the business and collaboratively work with other control areas, including willingness to work in new areas outside of their comfort zone.
- Self-starter, strong work ethic and personal accountability.
