The purpose of Southwire’s College Programs is to provide valuable experience to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher. Our goal is to give students meaningful work that builds on what they are learning in the classroom. Our programs are project based. Students will receive a project at the beginning of the summer and present it in our project expo at the end of the summer. Job Description

Job Summary/Objective:
The purpose of Southwire’s College Programs is to help early career professionals bring together formal learning and

productive work to improve their ability to transition from school to work. Southwire provides interns and co-ops with

“real world” applications of their academic studies, helpful feedback and coaching, and consideration for employment

after graduation. Each student will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of

study and be responsible for developing a timeline, progress updates, and final delivery in a senior leadership expo.

Note: All new interns and co-ops must begin in the summer rotation.

Key Responsibilities
· Your intern assignment is generally 10-12 weeks, and co-op assignment is generally 16-18 weeks and

will include an assigned project and opportunities to present your work.

· You will also collaborate on other exciting projects and work with talented peers and inspirational

leaders, many of whom began as interns and co-ops themselves.

· You will be provided a robust developmental experience through an immersive onboarding and

offboarding experience, assigned a mentor, networking opportunities, organized events, activities, and

community service /volunteer initiatives.

· You will have the opportunity to impact the future of the organization, all the while being exposed to

a world-class program community.

· Finally, our rising senior interns and co-ops are considered for full-time employment opportunities.

Long Description

The Strategic Sourcing Intern will support a process improvement initiative focused on invoice-only purchase orders (POs). The intern will conduct time studies to evaluate the effort and resources currently required by buyers to process these transactions, identify inefficiencies, and quantify opportunities for improvement.

In addition, the intern will research technology solutions that may integrate with SAP S/4HANA to automate or streamline invoice-only PO processes. Findings will be used to develop a business case for potential technology investments and/or provide data-driven recommendations for alternative purchasing methods, including enhancements to company credit card policies. The internship will culminate in a formal presentation of findings, recommendations, and projected business impacts to sourcing and procurement leadership.

Description of Responsibilities

- Conduct buyer time studies and process mapping for invoice-only PO workflows.

- Analyze data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.

- Research technology solutions compatible with SAP S/4HANA.

- Develop a business case supporting automation opportunities.

- Evaluate policy-based alternatives, including credit card program enhancements.

- Present recommendations and findings to leadership.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

- Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems.

- Experience with process mapping, time studies, or data analytics projects.

- Exposure to business case development or financial analysis.

- Knowledge of automation, digital transformation, or enterprise technology solutions.

- Minimum 2.5 GPA.

- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

- Possess reliable transportation to and from work.

- Up-to-date awareness of sustainability issues, best practices, and industry trends.

- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Experience with systems thinking and process management concepts.

- Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
