Providence Cristo Rey High School (PCRHS) is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and student-focused  Boys Baseball Coach for the upcoming Spring Sports season.

The Boys Baseball Coach will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the baseball program while creating a positive environment focused on athletic development, teamwork, sportsmanship, accountability, and the personal growth of our student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities

The Boys Baseball Coach will:

- Plan, organize, and lead team practices, games, and other baseball-related activities.

- Teach baseball fundamentals, strategies, skills, and appropriate conditioning techniques.

- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, accountability, and respect among student-athletes.

- Establish and communicate clear expectations for student-athlete conduct, attendance, academic responsibility, and team participation.

- Provide appropriate supervision of student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and other team activities.

- Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director, school administration, other coaches, faculty, and staff.

- Maintain timely communication regarding schedules, practices, games, transportation, and other team-related matters.

- Ensure equipment, uniforms, facilities, and other athletic resources are appropriately maintained and accounted for.

- Follow all PCRHS policies and procedures and all applicable athletic association, conference, and competition requirements.

- Serve as a positive role model and represent Providence Cristo Rey High School professionally in interactions with students, families, officials, opposing teams, and the community.

- Support the mission, values, and student-centered culture of Providence Cristo Rey High School.

- Complete other reasonable responsibilities associated with successfully leading the Boys Baseball program.

Success in this role goes beyond wins and losses. The Boys Baseball Coach is expected to build a program that reflects the mission and values of Providence Cristo Rey High School while creating a positive and development-focused experience for student-athletes.

A successful season will include:

- Student-Athlete Development: Players demonstrate growth in baseball skills, teamwork, discipline, confidence, accountability, and leadership throughout the season.

- Strong Team Culture: The coach creates an environment where student-athletes are treated with dignity and respect, understand expectations, support one another, and demonstrate good sportsmanship.

- Academic Accountability: Student-athletes understand that academics remain a priority and are held accountable for meeting PCRHS academic and eligibility expectations.

- Reliable Team Participation: The coach actively supports player recruitment, retention, attendance, and engagement so PCRHS can field an eligible and competitive team for scheduled contests throughout the season. The existing coach agreement specifically makes maintaining a full team for scheduled competition an important program expectation.

- Professional Communication: Players, families, the Athletic Director, school leadership, and other stakeholders receive clear, timely, and professional communication regarding schedules, expectations, concerns, and program activities.

- Safe and Well-Managed Program: Practices, games, travel, equipment, facilities, and student supervision are managed responsibly and in accordance with PCRHS requirements and applicable athletic rules.

- Positive Representation of PCRHS: The coach models appropriate conduct and represents PCRHS professionally when interacting with students, parents, officials, opposing schools, and the community.

- Mission Alignment: The coach understands that athletics is an extension of the educational experience and supports PCRHS's Catholic mission, values, and commitment to the formation and development of young people.

- Season Completion: The coach fulfills responsibilities throughout the complete Spring Sports season, including postseason responsibilities, equipment/uniform reconciliation, required documentation, and the end-of-season meeting with the Athletic Director.

- Program Improvement: At the conclusion of the season, the coach provides constructive feedback regarding the baseball program and identifies opportunities to strengthen participation, player development, operations, and the overall student-athlete experience.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should possess:

- Prior baseball coaching experience; high school coaching experience preferred.

- Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, rules, strategies, and player development.

- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop high school student-athletes.

- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to establish positive and appropriate relationships with students, families, school employees, officials, and community members.

- Dependability and availability for practices, games, meetings, and other required activities throughout the Spring Sports season.

- Commitment to sportsmanship, student development, safety, and the mission of PCRHS.

- Current or required coaching, safety, CPR/AED, or other certifications, if applicable to the position or athletic program.

Schedule

This is a seasonal coaching position for the Spring Sports season . The coach must be available for scheduled practices, games, tournaments, team meetings, and other activities associated with the baseball program. Evening and weekend availability will be required.

Compensation

Compensation: $5,000 for successful completion of the Spring Sports season and required end-of-season responsibilities.

For a current full-time PCRHS employee, the $5,000 will be paid as a supplemental coaching stipend through payroll following the end-of-season meeting and will be subject to applicable tax withholdings and payroll deductions.

For a coach who is not otherwise employed by PCRHS, the anticipated compensation is a one-time $5,000 payment following successful completion of the season and required end-of-season responsibilities, subject to the terms of the applicable coaching agreement.

Required Screening and Compliance

Because this position involves working directly with students, the selected candidate must successfully complete all PCRHS-required pre-engagement and child-protection requirements, which may include:

- Criminal background screening.

- Safe Parish and/or other required child-protection training and compliance.

- Drug screening, where required by PCRHS policy.

- Verification of required coaching, safety, or athletic certifications.

- Compliance with PCRHS policies regarding student safety, professional boundaries, conduct, and confidentiality.

Continued eligibility to coach is contingent upon maintaining all required clearances and certifications throughout the season.
