Job Title: Safety Specialist Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Safety Specialist responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving environmental, health, and safety programs. The role requires ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements while preparing and presenting plans for such programs.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, monitor, and improve environmental, health, and safety programs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present plans for environmental, health, and safety programs.
- Provide training for associates and others on environmental, facility, and safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor environmental and safety compliance issues and assist with workplace safety matters.
- Perform and oversee environmental monitoring for facility discharges, storm water management, and other permits.
- Conduct routine industrial and hazardous waste management activities, including waste inventories and vendor scheduling.
- Conduct investigations and root cause analysis and make resolution recommendations.
- Implement corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement activities as directed.
- Maintain various reporting systems and provide safety analysis as required.
- Assist in job hazard assessments by participating in processes and researching industry best practices.
- Participate in EHS audits, inspections, and routine surveys, including drafting audit documentation and tracking corrective actions.
- Maintain EHS files and records and modify compliance tracking programs.
- Develop technical documents including EHS procedures, programs, and guidance documents.
- Maintain, update, and coordinate EHS training programs.
- Respond to emergency situations during or after hours to resolve immediate safety/security concerns.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety or related field.
- Strong project management and planning skills.
- Experience in an automotive environment (0-5 years).
- Knowledge of ISO14001 and TS16949 standards.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with the automotive industry.
- ISO14001 certification is an advantage.
- Possession of an OSHA 30 certification.
Work Environment
The role is based in an automotive plastic injection molding facility that manufactures small plastic pieces for fuel pumps. The facility is clean compared to other automotive environments and is a major employer in Mt. Sterling. The position includes a personal desk but requires work in training rooms and on the floor depending on duties.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Mount Sterling, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $65000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Company offers competitive benefits including health, dental, vision as well as PTO and holiday pay.
