Heavy Truck Mechanic with Alignment Experience

Location: Wilkes-Barre, PA

Join McCarthy Tire Service, where our people are valued, supported, and given opportunities to grow. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Truck Mechanic with Alignment Experience to diagnose, repair, maintain, and align Class 5–8 commercial trucks and trailers.

What Youll Do

- Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline-powered Class 5–8 trucks and heavy-duty trailers.

- Perform preventive maintenance, major repairs, and OEM-required services.

- Diagnose electrical, emissions, air, brake, steering, suspension, and mechanical systems.

- Perform maintenance and repairs on SCR, DOC, DPF, and DEF systems .

- Perform valve and injector overhead adjustments according to OEM procedures.

- Perform front- and rear-end heavy-duty alignments , including caster, camber, and toe adjustments.

- Diagnose and repair steering and suspension components, including tie rods, drag links, U-bolts, shims, and related components.

- Inspect and repair brakes, wheel-end components, airlines, lighting, ABS, and other truck and trailer systems.

- Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure safe operation.

- Inspect vehicles for Federal and state inspection and safety requirements.

- Perform welding, structural repairs, fabrication, and component alignment as needed.

- Accurately document repairs and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

- Assist with other shop duties as needed.

Qualifications

- 2–5 years of Class 7 & 8 heavy-duty truck repair experience and/or vocational diesel training.

- Heavy-duty alignment experience required or strongly preferred .

- Experience with diesel and gasoline-powered Class 5–8 vehicles.

- Strong knowledge of steering, suspension, brakes, electrical, and mechanical systems.

- Experience with Freightliner, Mack, Kenworth, Peterbilt, International, Volvo, or Cummins is a plus.

- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred .

- State Inspection License preferred or willingness to obtain.

- Must have necessary tools and be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

- Strong communication skills, dependable attendance, and commitment to safety.
