SMT Manufacturing Technician (Electronics Manufacturing)

We are seeking a detail-oriented SMT Manufacturing Technician to support the operation and maintenance of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production equipment in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. The SMT Manufacturing Technician is responsible for machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, quality verification, and continuous improvement activities to ensure efficient production of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).

A Day In The Life

• Set up, operate, and monitor SMT production equipment, including solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and inspection systems.
• Perform machine changeovers, program verification, and first-article inspections.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on SMT equipment.
• Verify material availability and ensure proper component loading and feeder setup.
• Inspect PCB assemblies for quality and conformance to specifications.
• Monitor production yields and identify opportunities for process improvements.
• Maintain accurate production, quality, and maintenance records.
• Follow IPC standards, work instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Assist with new product introductions (NPI) and process validation activities.

What will help you thrive in this role?

• Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, manufacturing technology or a related field.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in an SMT or electronics manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating SMT equipment and automated assembly machinery. Experience with Juki SMT equipment is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with manufacturing software systems.
• PC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification.

• Experience with Fuji, Yamaha, ASM, Panasonic, Universal, or similar SMT equipment.
• Familiarity with AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), SPI (Solder Paste Inspection), and reflow processes.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
