Position Overview

Customer Insights and Analytics (CI&A) is focused on improved patient and business outcomes through strategic and innovative insights grounded in data and analytics. The Senior Director CI&A LillyDirect will build and lead the team responsible for delivering analytical insights that drive LillyDirect business decisions in the U.S. and outside the United States (OUS), while also providing leadership, technical guidance and career development support for individuals in their organization. This role will assume strategic and people leadership of Lilly's existing LillyDirect data strategy function and will scale that foundation into a broader analytics organization serving U.S. and OUS markets. This role reports to the CFO of LillyDirect.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership

- Develop and implement a comprehensive analytics strategy for LillyDirect, with a consumer-first, and AI-first approach, aligned with business goals.
- Set the strategic direction and roadmap for LillyDirect analytics, providing oversight and thought leadership to direct reports accountable for day-to-day execution, including dashboard development, KPI tracking, and cross-functional data partnership with CI&A, Tech@Lilly, and Finance.
- Work closely with both the Chief Product and Technology Officer and the Sr Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer LillyDirect to define the analytical agenda for the LillyDirect product and marketing functions – setting priorities for what data is captured, what questions are investigated, and what insights are acted upon.

People Leadership – Build and Lead a World-Class C&IA Team

- Scale and lead a team of business analysts capable of operating with the speed and agility of a health-tech company who support LillyDirect in the delivery of high-impact insights to the organization for US and OUS markets.
- Develop a pipeline of analytics talent and leadership, and contribute to an inclusive community of expert practitioners through recruiting, training, coaching, and retaining top talent
- Ensure the team delivers business recommendations and solutions that are supported by solid evidence, grounded in analytics
- Promote a culture of accountability and operational excellence by ensuring CI&A team delivers work on time and maintain an operations calendar
- Partner with Lilly BI&A organization to replicate and/or share best practices

Business Integration

- Provide objective data used to measure business performance for the overall LillyDirect business as well as specific parts of the business
- Influence business decisions and deliver data-driven insights to the LillyDirect leadership team that help more patients
- Influence LillyDirect leaders on the effective adoption of analytics recommendations and solutions
- Engage fully with business teams by providing an objective perspective and facilitating data-driven decision making
- Proactively bring recommendations and solutions to the business to improve outcomes
- Champion efforts to challenge the status quo and drive solutions that help LillyDirect reach its goals

AI and Analytics Product Use

- Own the development and delivery of AI tools and analytics products from concept to launch, ensuring they meet business and internal customer needs
- Ensure the quality and reliability of analytics products through rigorous testing and validation by the CI&A Team

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelors degree
- 5+ years leading analytics teams
- 10+ years of experience in analytics, data science, statistics, or computer science
- Hand on experience with SQL and at least one modern BI/visualization platform (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker)

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Experiences

- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Analytics or data science leadership experience within an ecommerce, healthcare technology company, digital health platform, or health-tech startup/scale-up.
- Experience with direct-to-consumer or direct-to-patient business models, including e-commerce, subscription, or marketplace economics.
- Candidates with experience spanning both health-tech and pharma environments are especially valued.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead business analytics teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Experience with cloud data warehouses and product/experimentation analytics tool for consumer-facing A/B testing and cohort analysis

Skills

- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate analytics concepts clearly to collaborators at all levels and to influence senior decisions
- Consistent record of using data to drive decision-making
- Demonstrated success leading and delivering complex projects across highly matrixed, multi-functional teams
- Possess broad awareness of advanced analytics areas such as: design of experiments, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), optimization, and predictive analytics
- Working knowledge of healthcare data privacy and regulatory requirements (e.g. HIPAA) and experience embedding privacy-by-design and data governance practices into analytics products built on consumer health data
- Demonstrates a growth mindset; builds systems and processes designed for scale while remaining flexible enough to adapt to a fast-moving health-tech environment.

Location

- Flexible, with a preference for South San Francisco or the West Coast. Candidates must be willing to work PST hours.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is
$175,500 - $283,800
