Laboratory Analyst

Leidos is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team supporting the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) in St. Louis, Missouri . This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career scientist looking to build hands-on experience in radiochemistry, nuclear instrumentation, and environmental laboratory operations while working alongside experienced professionals.

In this role, you will support the analysis, tracking, and reporting of environmental soil, water, and air samples while receiving training in radiochemical analytical techniques, laboratory instrumentation, laboratory information management systems (LIMS), and laboratory quality and safety procedures. This position offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise in a highly regulated laboratory environment supporting an important environmental remediation mission.

Standard work hours will be 7:00 am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Ability to travel approximately 20% as needed.

What You'll Do

- Assist with the analysis of environmental soil, water, and air samples.
- Learn to operate and maintain radiological laboratory instrumentation, including gamma and alpha spectrometry systems.
- Perform environmental and radiochemical analyses under the guidance of experienced laboratory staff.
- Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to accurately track samples and maintain laboratory records.
- Ensure laboratory documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with quality standards.
- Follow all laboratory safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and quality assurance requirements.
- Support day-to-day laboratory operations and other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

- High school diploma and at least a year of relevant experience in areas such as labs or research.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Willingness to work full-time onsite in St. Louis, MO.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, Geology, Biology, or another STEM discipline preferred.

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance; due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent residency is required.

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum wage requirements as well as minimum Health and Welfare benefits. The rate for this position is expected to be $25-28/hr, but may be higher based on actual experience.
