In this position...

- In Ford Racing, you will be a CAD/surfacing engineer supporting our Motorsports Aerodynamics group, translating aero performance targets into precise, CFD-ready 3D surfaces and physical hardware. You'll work hand-in-hand with aerodynamicists to rapidly convert wind tunnel and simulation findings into geometry that can be evaluated, iterated, and validated in a fast-paced racing development cycle.
- Beyond surfacing, you'll also design mechanical components and mounting hardware, and prepare geometry for rapid prototyping of scale models used in our wind tunnel program.
- This role is focused on functional, analysis-driven surfacing — not showroom Class-A finish — so speed, accuracy, and aerodynamic intent matter more than cosmetic polish. You'll have...

- Associate's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent design experience within the automotive field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in an automotive/motorsports product development environment.
- 2+ years of experience surfacing and mechanical modeling in Catia (GSD/ISB), 3DX, NX, SolidWorks, ICEM Surf, Alias, or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of surfacing techniques for functional/aerodynamic geometry (freeform surfaces, lofts, blends) rather than Class-A styling surfaces.
- Experience designing mechanical components/hardware and preparing models for rapid prototyping or additive manufacturing.
- Capability to use 3D CAD/surfacing software as a collaborative tool in a rapid-iteration environment.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, especially with aerodynamics and performance engineering teams.
- Understanding and proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Even better, you may have...

- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent design experience within the automotive/motorsports field.
- Experience surfacing geometry specifically for CFD meshing and simulation input.
- Direct experience supporting scale-model wind tunnel builds, including design for 3D-printed or CNC-machined model components.
- Familiarity with CFD pre-processing/meshing requirements and how surface quality impacts simulation results.
- Experience with vehicle architecture, chassis, or underbody aero components.
- Knowledgeable in design-for-manufacturing processes for both additive manufacturing and composite/aero bodywork (carbon fiber layup, molding, etc.).
- Exemplary communication skills, highly collaborative, and eager to work at race-team pace on fast-turnaround projects.

This position is a salary grade 5 and ranges from $65,100-$109,300.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
