About this role
About us
We are Digital Science (https://www.digital-science.com/) and we are advancing the research ecosystem. We are a pioneering technology company, and our vision is of a future where a trusted and collaborative research ecosystem drives progress for all. We believe in better, open, collaborative and inclusive research. In creating the next generation of tools and working in partnership with the community we tackle some of the biggest challenges to research. In order to achieve our vision, we need innovative, inspiring and dynamic people to join our team. Want to join us?
Your new role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Treasury Analyst to build and own this capability for Digital Science for the first time — cash flow monitoring, bank account administration, intercompany loan and cash-pooling reconciliation, and insurance administration — working closely with the VP, Finance Operations and CFO on cash and banking matters, and liaising with Holtzbrinck Treasury on group requirements.
Because this capability is being stood up from scratch, the role carries a strong build/project element in its first phase: establishing processes, documentation and controls where none previously existed, before moving into steady-state operation.
Please note - due to business need, we can only accept applications from candidates who reside in the UK, where we have an established legal entity. If you apply from outside of this area, your application will not be considered.
For this role, we’d specifically need someone based in or close to London, so they can come into the office around twice a month.
Please be aware that we may close this position early if we receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to apply promptly.
What you’ll be doing
- Monitor and forecast cash flow — on a rolling basis to ensure adequate funds are available for operational needs, escalating risks to the VP, Finance Operations.
- Administer cash concentration and disbursement activity — supporting the group's intercompany cash pooling arrangements, including reconciling intercompany loans and interest to ensure accurate reflection in group entities' balance sheets and P&Ls.
- Coordinate payroll funding with the AP Senior — ensuring cash is in place ahead of payroll run dates and that payroll bank files are submitted and confirmed on time.
- Support monitoring and reporting of foreign exchange exposure.
- Maintain day-to-day banking relationships — acting as first point of contact for operational banking queries, escalating strategic or contractual banking matters to the VP, Finance Operations.
- Prepare regular cash position and cash flow forecast reporting — for the VP, Finance Operations, the CFO , and Holtzbrinck Treasury, in line with Holtzbrinck Treasury Guidelines.
- Support insurance administration and data-collection requests — in coordination with HPG Insurance, under the direction of the VP, Finance Operations.
- Own the initial build-out of the Treasury, Banking & Insurance function — establishing processes, documentation and controls for cash, banking and insurance activity that has previously been fragmented across the team.
- Identify and implement process improvements and system tooling — e.g. bank portals, treasury/cash management systems, to bring this capability to a scalable, well-controlled steady state.
- Maintain internal controls over cash and treasury processes — recommending improvements as needed.
Performance Standards
- Cash position and cash flow forecast reporting delivered accurately and on schedule to the VP, Finance Operations, CFO and Holtzbrinck Treasury.
- Intercompany loan and cash-pooling reconciliations completed each month with zero unexplained variances.
- Payroll funding coordinated with zero missed or late payroll bank file submissions.
- Treasury, Banking & Insurance processes, documentation and controls established and operating to a scalable, audit-ready standard as the function matures.
- Banking queries resolved promptly, with strategic or contractual matters escalated appropriately and on time.
What you’ll bring to the role
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in cash management, banking operations, or treasury administration.
- Proficient with accounting software ( NetSuite ).
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable liaising with banks and group treasury contacts.
- Comfortable being the first dedicated owner of a function — building processes and documentation from a blank page.
Desirable
- Accounting exposure alongside cash/treasury experience.
- Experience with treasury/cash management systems or bank portals.
Culture & Behavioural Expectations
- Demonstrates high attention to detail and accuracy across cash, banking and insurance work.
- Exercises discretion and sound judgement when handling sensitive cash and banking information.
- Applies analytical thinking to interpret cash flow and treasury data, flagging risks proactively.
- Acts as a self-starter with an AI-first mindset, building structure and process independently rather than inheriting an established function.
- Collaborates proactively across Finance and Digital Science, taking ownership and accountability for outcomes.
We're looking for people who are naturally curious about AI and comfortable exploring how it can improve the way we work — you don't need to be an AI expert, but an openness to experiment and adapt is important to us.
Don't worry if you don't meet every qualification—let us be the judge! Studies show that many qualified candidates from under-represented groups hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement. We are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive team and strongly encourage you to submit your application.
