Missions Minister

Scope:

The Missions Minister provides leadership for Northwest Bible Church’s global missions efforts by caring for missionaries and ministry partners, mobilizing the congregation for local and global engagement, and helping shape the church’s missions strategy. Working closely with the Outreach Minister, this role combines pastoral care, strategic leadership, volunteer development, and ministry execution to advance Northwest’s commitment to God’s mission among the nations.

General Responsibilities

- Under the leadership of Northwest and the Outreach Minister, provide primary staff leadership, direction and oversight to Missions Department. This includes establishing and maintaining philosophy and theology of minister, key methods that guide the ministry as well as best practices, policies and procedures that result in overall health and growth of the ministry.

- Recruit, develop, and empower a team of volunteer leaders to do the work of ministry for the Missions department.

- Provide spiritual shepherding and care to volunteers serving in the Missions department and when the opportunity exists, to the Northwest body at large.

- Partner with the Outreach Minister to develop and oversee the missions’ portion of the Outreach budget; Monitoring expenditures, reviewing financial reports, and ensuring resources are stewarded strategically and in alignment with ministry priorities.

- Supervise and develop the Missions Ministry Assistant.

- Plan, organize, and execute plans for weekly/recurring and major/seasonal ministry events.

- Serve as Minister on Call on a rotating schedule as determined by the Care Minister.

Missionary and Ministry Partner Care

- Cultivate strong relationships with Northwest-supported missionaries and ministry partners through regular communication, prayer, encouragement, and practical support.

- Provide care for missionaries and their families, helping identify needs and connect them with appropriate resources.

- Oversee systems and processes that strengthen missionary care, communication, partnership health, and annual partnership assessments.

Missions Strategy and Leadership

- Help develop and execute mission strategies that align with Northwest’s mission, values, and Outreach Policy.

- Evaluate ministry partnerships, identify emerging opportunities, and recommend strategic improvements that increase Kingdom impact.

- Create pathways for individuals and families to engage in God’s mission through prayer, giving, serving, and cross-cultural ministry opportunities.

- Communicate missionary stories and ministry opportunities in ways that inspire participation and strengthen congregational engagement.

Mission Trip Leadership

- Lead, coordinate, and support mission trips that strengthen ministry partnerships and provide meaningful discipleship opportunities.

- Oversee trip planning, communication, logistics, and administrative processes to ensure effective and well-executed mission experiences.

Qualifications

As a religious organization, all employees must agree to conduct themselves in a way that does not undermine or contradict the contents of the church's Doctrinal Statement and  Statement on Marriage and human sexuality  based upon its sincerely held religious beliefs, to qualify for employment with Northwest Bible Church. This is necessary to accomplish the Church’s religious mission, goals, and purpose.

Required

- Active membership and participation at Northwest Bible Church.

- Demonstrated calling to vocational ministry and a growing, Christ-centered life.

- Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to lead teams, build relationships, and collaborate effectively across ministries.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities with initiative and follow-through.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

- A self-motivated work ethic that pursues excellence and servant leadership.

Preferred

- Master’s degree or higher in a related field; seminary training preferred.

- Five or more years of ministry leadership or comparable professional experience.

- Experience working with missionaries, missions organizations, volunteer teams, or cross-cultural ministry settings.
