Dentist

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and detail-oriented Dentist to deliver high-quality oral healthcare to residents living at the San Angelo Supported Living Center (SGSSLC) and select community-based individuals.

In this role, you will perform advanced dental procedures aimed at elevating the oral hygiene and overall health of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will work alongside a collaborative interdisciplinary team, including an anesthesia provider for complete oral rehabilitations, while adhering to safe, evidence-based practices and state facility standards.

Location: Carlsbad, TX

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (No weekends or holidays)

Key Responsibilities

- Clinical Care: Perform comprehensive, limited, and emergency dental exams, restorative procedures, simple extractions, crown preparations, and denture cases.
- Specialized Procedures: Collaborate with an anesthesiology provider to execute complete oral rehabilitations for residents requiring sedation.
- Treatment Planning: Develop detailed, written treatment plans with clear clinical justifications for any irreversible dental treatments.
- Digital Documentation: Maintain timely, precise, and compliant electronic health records (EHR/EMR) for all resident clinical encounters.
- Quality & Safety: Follow digital dentistry practices and comply with facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), CMS Standards, SGSSLC Policy and Directives, and Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) regulations.
- Teamwork & Independence: Work productively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team while exercising sound clinical judgment with minimal supervision.

Requirements & Qualifications

Licensure & Credentials

- Texas Dental License: Current, unrestricted license to practice Dentistry in the State of Texas (issued through TSBDE/TDLR).
- DEA Registration: Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency certificate.
- NPI: Active National Provider Identifier number.
- CPR Certification: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification (must remain active throughout assignment).

Facility & Compliance Requirements

- Completion of required HHSC drug testing and fingerprint-based background check.
- Compliance with all HHSC immunization guidelines.
- Completion of facility- and HHSC-mandated training modules.
- Strict adherence to staffing agency, HHSC, and SGSSLC attendance, leave, and operational policies.

Skills & Experience

- Proficiency in digital dentistry and electronic health records (EHR/EMR).
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Experience or comfort providing dental care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.

Schedule & Contract Details

- Work Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Holidays: None (No holiday shifts required)
