What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker International is seeking an experienced Survey Chief of Parties to support and manage multiple survey crews and field staff throughout California. This leadership role is responsible for coordinating field operations, client requests, project budgets, and survey workflows while ensuring the successful execution of a wide range of surveying and mapping projects.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in all phases of land surveying, strong technical knowledge of surveying software and equipment, and the ability to lead field teams in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do:

- Prepare work plans and coordinate survey field crews.

- Support the management of client field work requests and maintain surveying project budgets.

- Interpret engineering and construction plans and prepare construction calculations and verification reports.

- Organize and coordinate a variety of surveying and mapping projects.

- Utilize databases and software applications to process and manage field-collected data.

- Develop and improve field workflows using Trimble Business Center and Trimble Access.

- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

- Support quality control and operational efficiency across multiple field crews and project assignments.

What You Need to Succeed:

Required Qualifications

- 7+ years of experience in all phases of land surveying.

- Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) certification.

- Experience managing survey crews and coordinating field operations.

- Ability to read and interpret plans, prepare construction calculations, and produce verification reports.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

- Experience processing survey field data and utilizing surveying databases.

Preferred Qualifications

- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in California.

- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

- Experience with Trimble Business Center and Star*Net.

- Working knowledge of MicroStation and InRoads.

- Experience developing and implementing survey workflows and best practices.

Compensation:

The approximate compensation range for this position is $68,493.00 - 107,877.00 per year . This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
