Position Title: Head Coach—Club Sports and Intramurals

Department: Student Life

Position Summary: This position supports Warner Universitys recruitment, retention, student development, and educational ministry efforts by providing leadership, instruction, and oversight for the Universitys club sports and intramural programs. The Head Coach—Club Sports & Intramurals will serve as the primary coach and instructor for designated club sports, leading practices and teaching sport-specific skills, strategies, rules, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal development. The position is also responsible for the administration and continued development of the Universitys club sports and intramural programs, including establishing program goals and procedures, evaluating student participation and program needs, developing competitive and intramural schedules, managing program resources, and recommending changes or expansion based on student interest and institutional priorities. The primary purpose of these programs is to provide meaningful opportunities for student instruction, discipleship, leadership development, recruitment, retention, and campus engagement. This position serves as the Universitys primary resource for club sports and intramural programming and exercises judgment in the day-to-day administration of assigned programs. This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Vice President of Student Life and working closely with Student Life, Admissions, Athletics, Student Financial Services, and other University departments.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about the cause of gospel-centered, biblically orthodox higher education. He or she will both understand and value the cultural role of Christian higher education. Additionally, the selected candidate must be energetic about the Universitys goal of distinguishing itself in the higher-education industry through commitment to historic biblical values. Most importantly, the chosen candidate will have a heart for student ministry and the work of discipling others in the Christian faith.

The chosen candidate must affirm and support the Universitys official Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities:

- Support the mission and core values of Warner University and Student Life through the leadership and administration of club sports and intramural programming.

- Create, implement, and personally model a spiritual-formation plan focused on Jesus for students participating in club sports and intramural activities.

- Serve as the primary coach and instructor for assigned club sports, including planning and conducting practices and providing direct instruction in sport-specific skills, techniques, strategies, rules, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development.

- Coordinate practice planning, skill development, and coaching strategies that prepare participants for competition and continued growth.

- Provide a positive program environment that promotes community, fairness, organization, commitment, motivation, accountability, and accomplishment.

- Establish and enforce standards of conduct for club sport participants and provide mentoring designed to foster spiritual, athletic, academic, emotional, and social development.

- Direct the recruitment and retention efforts for club sport participants, including identifying prospective students, communicating program opportunities, and working collaboratively with Admissions and Student Life to support enrollment goals.

- Develop, administer, and evaluate the Universitys club sports and intramural programs in alignment with institutional goals and student needs.

- Evaluate current and proposed club sports and intramural offerings and make recommendations regarding the creation, modification, continuation, or discontinuation of programs.

- Establish competitive schedules for club sports and identify appropriate institutions and organizations for competition.

- Coordinate travel, hosting arrangements, facilities, and other logistical needs for practices, contests, and program activities.

- Develop and oversee the Universitys intramural calendar, including determining appropriate sports, formats, schedules, and participation structures based on student interest and available resources.

- Manage approved operational, equipment, and scholarship budgets while demonstrating fiscal responsibility and compliance with University guidelines.

- Oversee the purchase, maintenance, inventory, and collection of equipment and other resources used for club sports, intramurals, and campus game-room activities.

- Maintain accurate records related to student participation, program activities, disciplinary matters, budget utilization, equipment, and other relevant program information.

- Assess student participation, retention, and program effectiveness and recommend changes designed to improve student engagement and program outcomes.

- Collaborate with Student Life, Admissions, Student Financial Services, Marketing, Facilities, and other University departments to support program operations, recruitment, student development, and campus engagement.

- Work with Marketing to develop promotional strategies and content related to club sports, intramurals, recruitment, and student participation.

- Prepare program assessments, reports, recommendations, and budget information for the Vice President of Student Life and other institutional leadership.

- Attend and participate in Student Life staff meetings and other University meetings as requested.

- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Student Life.

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree required; degree in recreation, sports management, ministry, education, student affairs, or a related field preferred.

- Previous experience in coaching, recreation, club sports, intramurals, student activities, athletics, student ministry, or a related student-development environment.

- Demonstrated ability to coach, instruct, mentor, and develop students in a structured team or recreational setting.

- General knowledge of a variety of recreational and club sports, including activities such as cornhole, table tennis, kickball, pickleball, archery, billiards, and similar programs

- The ability to develop meaningful relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries

- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, practices, competitions, and special events as needed.

- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and be able to meet the University's Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) standards for authorized drivers.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a professional telephone manner

- Demonstrated experience in professionally handling sensitive and confidential information
