Quality Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support customer and supplier quality initiatives, lead root cause investigations, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. This role will ensure compliance with ISO quality standards, support audits, manage corrective actions, and partner with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to improve product and process performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, and corrective action methodologies.
- Lead supplier audits, process audits, and follow-up corrective action activities.
- Support ISO 9001 compliance and quality management system requirements.
- Conduct internal, supplier, product, and process audits.
- Investigate customer and supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Manage containment, rework, and nonconforming material activities.
- Drive supplier corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support APQP activities, new product launches, and PPAP submissions.
- Track, analyze, and report quality metrics.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to resolve quality concerns and improve performance.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, SPC, and statistical analysis.
- Proven experience leading supplier audits and driving corrective actions.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and auditing practices.
- Experience with supplier quality and customer-facing quality support.
- Hands-on experience with root cause analysis tools, including 8D and 5 Why.
- Proficiency with inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in fastener manufacturing, automotive, or heavy truck industries.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with IATF standards, gage calibration, and supplier audits.
- Experience using quality and inventory management systems.
- Ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role supporting manufacturing and warehouse operations. The position operates on a typical Monday-Friday schedule and may require occasional travel (up to 25%) to customer and supplier locations for audits, investigations, and project support. The role involves regular interaction with production areas and the use of inspection and measurement equipment while adhering to established safety standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
