Learning Program Facilitator PT Seasonal

The pay rate for this position is $16/hr.

Job Purpose:

The part time, seasonal Program Facilitator will be responsible for implementing, delivering, and supporting Learning & Engagement programs for learners of all ages through seasonal programming like field trips, camps, classes, and special events. Facilitators are responsible for leading assigned programs as designed, ensuring safe, inclusive and engaging learning experiences that align to Learning & Engagement goals and standards. This role reports to the corresponding Learning Manager and works collaboratively with Learning and Engagement staff, volunteers and partners to support joyful, hands-on learning experiences in an outdoor setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Accountability

- Ensure student and learner safety by following Garden protocols and procedures.

- Implement assigned L&E programs as designed, including supporting program setup, cleanup, and material management.

- Attend all required trainings, orientations, safety tours, and program briefings.

- Maintain familiarity with assigned program lessons and arrive prepared to facilitate the assigned program or event.

People Management/Interactions

- Facilitate engaging, hands-on learning experiences for all learners.

- Build positive relationships with program participants.

- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all learners.

- Collaborate with fellow facilitators, volunteers, and Garden staff to ensure high-quality program delivery.

Communication

- Communicate clearly and warmly with students, teachers, staff and other guests.

- Provide guidance and manage group dynamics during activities and transitions.

- Demonstrate active listening and empathy in guest and team interactions.

- Contribute to a supportive team culture through constructive communication.

Qualifications

Competencies: Knowledge and Skills required:

- Understanding of age-appropriate teaching strategies and informal education techniques.

- Enthusiasm for nature, plants, science, and environmental education.

- Comfort and competence working outdoors in varied weather conditions.

- Ability to adapt quickly and manage groups in dynamic learning environments.

- Physical stamina to walk, stand, or sit with children during extended outdoor programs.

- Walk over uneven surfaces, use stairs, bend, squat and carry up to 20 pounds.

Additional Job Requirements:

- Every FWBG employee is expected to possess and be willing and able to use a mobile device for timekeeping and business communications via calls/text messages.

- Be adaptable and flexible to changing schedules including occasional weekends and evenings.

- Bilingual Preferred

- Some learning programs require proof of insurance on personal vehicle for travel

Selected candidates will complete the required onboarding steps before the first shift:

- Background check

- Virtual onboarding via Paycom

- Anti-harassment training

- Child protection training (Ministry Safe)

- I-9 verification and Safety Tour

- Training for specific program facilitation as assigned.
