The VP of Product will be responsible for defining where the company invests, what we build, why we build it, and how those investments translate into customer value, revenue growth, competitive differentiation, and operating leverage.

This leader will oversee a portfolio spanning B2B payment capabilities—including virtual card, ACH, check and emerging payment methods—as well as the software, integrations, APIs, data, workflow, and partner capabilities surrounding payment execution.

The VP of Product will bring deep product leadership experience in SaaS, fintech, payments, accounts payable, procure-to-pay, or adjacent financial technology markets. This leader will also translate market opportunities and customer problems into a focused product strategy that Enginee

ring can execute and Sales can successfully take to market.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Build, lead and develop a high-performing Product Management organization.
- Define the appropriate organizational structure, roles, capabilities and career paths for the Product team.
- Recruit and develop strong product leaders and product managers.
- Create a culture of accountability, customer obsession, commercial thinking and data-driven decision-making.
- Raise the overall level of product management discipline across the organization.
- Serve as a senior leader who can constructively challenge assumptions and drive difficult prioritization decisions.
- Communicate product strategy effectively to executives, employees, customers, partners, Board members and investors.

Essential Functions: Duties and Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Vision

- E stablish and communicate a clear product vision and strategy aligned with the company's growth and value-creation objectives.
- Translate corporate strategy into a focused product portfolio, investment priorities, and roadmap.
- Develop a strong point of view on where the company should build, buy, partner, integrate, or retire capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to expand the company's addressable market, increase payment volume, improve monetization, and deepen customer relationships.
- Continuously evaluate market trends, customer needs, competitive offerings, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments.
- Ensure product investments are tied to measurable business outcomes rather than simply feature delivery.

Product Portfolio & Roadmap

- Own the enterprise product roadmap and establish a rigorous methodology for prioritizing product investments.
- Balance strategic innovation, customer commitments, platform modernization, technical debt, regulatory requirements, and near-term commercial opportunities.
- Establish clear business cases for major product investments, including expected customer impact, revenue opportunity, cost, risk, and required resources.
- Drive disciplined portfolio management and make difficult trade-off decisions when resources are constrained.
- Ensure product roadmaps have clear objectives, milestones, dependencies, ownership, and success metrics.

B2B Payments Product Leadership

- Lead strategy across the company's payment portfolio, including virtual card, ACH, check and other electronic payment methods.
- Drive capabilities that improve payment acceptance, supplier adoption, payment conversion, transaction economics, payment visibility, reconciliation, and exception management.
- Develop product strategies that increase payment volume and maximize the economics of the company's payment network.
- Partner with Operations and Vendor Enablement teams to improve supplier enrollment, electronic payment adoption, and overall payment experience.
- Understand and incorporate the operational, regulatory, fraud, risk, banking and network considerations inherent in B2B payments.
- Evaluate opportunities to develop proprietary payment capabilities and reduce dependency on third-party infrastructure where strategically and economically appropriate.

Platform, Integration & Embedded Payments

- Develop the strategy for APIs, integrations, embedded payments and partner-enabled product capabilities.
- Ensure the platform can integrate effectively with ERP, accounting, AP automation, procurement and financial systems.
- Lead product strategy for strategic partnerships where company capabilities are embedded within partner platforms or partner capabilities are embedded within the company's solutions.
- Define product requirements, customer experience, commercial considerations, service expectations and operating models for strategic integrations.
- Drive toward a scalable platform architecture that supports multiple products, partners, customer segments and distribution models.

Product Management Operating Model

- Establish a disciplined, best-in-class product management methodology spanning Market / Customer Insight → Product Strategy → Discovery → Business Case → Requirements → Prioritization → Development → Launch → Adoption → Measurement.
- Create clear roles and decision rights across Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, UX, Operations, Sales and Customer Experience with cross-functional alignment and support.
- Establish effective product requirements and product discovery practices before development begins.
- Improve roadmap transparency and ensure stakeholders understand priorities, trade-offs and delivery expectations.
- Create clear governance for product decisions and reduce reactive, one-off development driven by individual customer or sales requests.

Product Development & Engineering Partnership

- Serve as the primary executive partner to the technology executive organization on product development.
- Establish a highly effective operating relationship between Product and Engineering with clear accountability: Product owns the 'what and why'; Engineering owns the 'how.'
- Ensure Engineering teams receive well-defined customer problems, business requirements, priorities and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in capacity planning and ensure development resources are aligned to the company's highest-value opportunities.
- Partner with Engineering leadership on platform modernization, technical debt reduction, scalability, reliability and innovation.

Commercialization & Go-to-Market

- Partner closely with Sales, Marketing and Partnerships to translate product capabilities into compelling market propositions.
- Define target customer segments, buyer personas, use cases, positioning and differentiation.
- Ensure new products have comprehensive go-to-market and launch plans before release.
- Support strategic customer opportunities and major sales pursuits when product expertise is required.
- Establish mechanisms for systematically incorporating sales and customer feedback without allowing individual deals to dictate the product roadmap.
- Partner with Finance and commercial leadership on product pricing, packaging and monetization strategies.

Customer & Market Insight

- Build a systematic voice-of-the-customer program involving customers, prospects, partners, Sales, Customer Experience and Operations.
- Spend meaningful time directly with customers and prospects to understand unmet needs and emerging opportunities.
- Establish competitive intelligence and market analysis as core inputs into product strategy.
- Use quantitative product data alongside qualitative customer insight to inform investment decisions.

Product Performance & Economics

- Establish a product scorecard measuring ARR and revenue by product, payment volume, revenue and margin per payment type, electronic payment conversion, virtual card and ACH adoption, supplier enrollment and acceptance, customer adoption and utilization, product attach and cross-sell rates, customer retention, time-to-value, development velocity, roadmap predictability, reliability, contribution margin, and ROI on major product investments.
- Use these metrics to continuously evaluate where the company should increase, reduce or discontinue investment.

Qualifications:

- A minimum of 10 years of progressive product management and product leadership experience in SaaS, fintech, payments or financial technology. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Significant experience leading product organizations and complex software portfolios.
- Demonstrated experience defining and executing multi-year product strategies and roadmaps.
- Strong understanding of SaaS product management and modern software development methodologies.
- Proven ability to partner effectively with Engineering and Technology leadership.
- Strong commercial orientation with an understanding of product economics, pricing, revenue and profitability.
- Experience translating customer and market needs into scalable product solutions.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to operate successfully in a fast-moving environment requiring prioritization, organizational change and cross-functional leadership.
- Prior experience in B2B payments preferred including accounts payable automation; procure-to-pay / source-to-pay; virtual cards; ACH; commercial card networks; payment processing; supplier enablement / enrollment; embedded payments; payment APIs; ERP and accounting integrations; banking or payment infrastructure; fraud and payment risk; reconciliation; or payment monetization.
