JOB SUMMARY

The Documentum Architect, Sr. is the technical leader for Southern Company’s enterprise OpenText Documentum environment. This role helps direct the Documentum technical team, establishes platform and solution architecture, and owns the supportability of Documentum customizations, integrations, infrastructure, and related components.

The architect will lead the platform through its transition to Linux and container-based deployment and will remain accountable for architecture, reliability, security, lifecycle management, and support after the platform is operating on containers. The role works directly with business partners to understand needs, prioritize enhancements, plan upgrades, and lead implementation of solutions that deliver sustainable business value.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide day-to-day technical leadership for the Documentum team, including support ticket resolution, technical direction, work planning, design decisions, issue escalation, mentoring, and knowledge transfer.
- Own the end-to-end architecture and technical health of the enterprise Documentum platform across development, test, production, and disaster recovery environments.
- Take ownership of supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modernizing all Documentum customizations, integrations, workflows, jobs, utilities, and extensions.
- Enforce standards for Documentum development, configuration, source control, testing, deployment, documentation, monitoring, and production support.
- Lead the migration of Documentum components from Linux to containers, including architecture, configuration, deployment, testing, operational readiness, and support transition.
- Own the ongoing container operating model after migration, including vendor image updates, Helm and deployment configuration, security remediation, monitoring, capacity, resiliency, patching, upgrades, and rollback planning.
- Lead investigation and resolution of complex production issues that span Documentum, custom code, Java and application servers, Linux, containers, Oracle, storage, identity, network services, and third-party products.
- Partner with business stakeholders and product owners to understand needs, evaluate requests, define requirements, assess options, and prioritize enhancements, maintenance, and lifecycle investments.
- Translate business priorities into a practical technical roadmap and lead the design, estimation, implementation, testing, release, and support of approved enhancements and upgrades.
- Coordinate with application developers, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, database administrators, storage teams, enterprise architects, vendors, and business partners to deliver secure and supportable solutions.
- Plan and lead Documentum upgrades, patches, migrations, disaster recovery exercises, performance improvements, and adoption of new platform capabilities.
- Perform architecture, design, code, and implementation reviews and ensure technical risks, dependencies, and support impacts are understood before production deployment.
- Maintain current platform, integration, customization, recovery, and operational documentation.
- Serve as the primary technical contact with OpenText and other vendors for product support, compatibility, defects, security findings, and product direction.
- Participate in on-call support and planned maintenance activities as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered in accordance with company guidelines.

Experience

- Significant experience designing, developing, administering, supporting, and upgrading enterprise OpenText Documentum solutions.
- Experience serving as a technical lead or architect for an enterprise application platform and directing the technical work of others.
- Experience owning and supporting custom enterprise applications, integrations, workflows, batch jobs, and platform extensions.
- Experience with Linux-based enterprise application environments and relational databases, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle.
- Experience working with business partners to prioritize work, define requirements, evaluate solutions, and deliver enhancements and upgrades.
- Experience leading complex troubleshooting and coordinating resolution across multiple technical teams and vendors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Deep knowledge of Documentum architecture, object model, repositories, security, content storage, indexing, rendition, workflows, jobs, and integration patterns.
- Knowledge of Documentum components and development technologies such as Content Server, D2, Smart View, Documentum Administrator, D2 REST, DFS, xPlore, OTDS, DFC, and migration tools.
- Knowledge of container platforms and practices, preferably Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes, Helm, YAML, container registries, secrets, persistent storage, resource management, image scanning, and deployment promotion.
- Working knowledge of Java, Tomcat or comparable application servers, REST services, SQL, Oracle, Linux shell scripting, Git, and automated deployment or testing practices.
- Ability to set technical direction, make sound architecture decisions, lead through ambiguity, and balance business value, reliability, security, lifecycle, and supportability.
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to business partners, technical teams, vendors, and leadership.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, collaboration, customer service, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, raise risks early, drive decisions, and follow work through implementation and production stabilization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with recent OpenText Documentum releases and modernization of legacy Documentum applications.
- Hands-on experience migrating enterprise applications to Linux and OpenShift or Kubernetes containers.
- Experience supporting containerized platforms in production, including monitoring, logging, security patching, upgrades, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with Documentum D2 customizations, DFC or Java custom code, REST integrations, workflow solutions, migration utilities, and PDF rendition products.
- Experience developing technical roadmaps and partnering with business stakeholders on enhancement portfolios and lifecycle planning.
- Experience with automation using Bash, Python, PowerShell, CI/CD tools, or infrastructure-as-code practices.
