Job Description

Telemundo 47 New York (WNJU), part of NBCUniversal Local, is seeking a dynamic, engaging, and experienced News Anchor to join our award-winning newsroom. The ideal candidate is a strong journalist with exceptional on-air presence, sound editorial judgment, and the ability to connect authentically with the diverse communities we serve throughout the New York Tri-State area.

The News Anchor will serve as a key member of the newsroom, anchoring live and recorded newscasts, contributing to enterprise reporting, and collaborating across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media platforms. The successful candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to accurately communicate breaking news and developing stories under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

- Anchor daily newscasts and special coverage in a compelling, accurate, and engaging manner.
- Collaborate with producers, reporters, assignment editors, and newsroom leadership to develop and deliver impactful content.
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute story ideas that reflect the interests and concerns of the communities we serve.
- Conduct live interviews and field reporting assignments as needed.
- Deliver breaking news and severe weather coverage with professionalism and urgency.
- Create and contribute content for digital, streaming, and social media platforms.
- Represent WNJU at community events, station initiatives, and public appearances.
- Maintain a strong understanding of local, national, and international news developments.
- Uphold the highest journalistic standards, ethics, and credibility.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of on-air anchoring and/or reporting experience in a television news environment.
- Fluency in Spanish (written and verbal); bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred.
- Strong live reporting, interviewing, and ad-libbing skills.
- Excellent news judgment and editorial decision-making abilities.
- Strong writing, communication, and storytelling skills.
- Experience covering breaking news, severe weather, and major news events.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with digital news platforms, streaming, and social media engagement strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with newsroom colleagues across departments.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as newsroom coverage demands.
- Ability to participate in station-sponsored events, community initiatives, and public appearances.

Eligibility Requirements

Salary Range: $180,000-$220,000
