Purpose of the role
You will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating detailed project schedules for proposals and projects in progress. You will help ensure project activities are accurately planned, tracked, and documented, while providing scheduling information and reports that support effective project management and decision-making.
This role is suited to someone who has established experience in planning or scheduling and is ready to continue developing their skills while taking increasing ownership of assigned work.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering and construction schedules in accordance with project requirements and established scheduling practices.
- Develop schedules for project proposals and projects in progress, incorporating activities, durations, sequencing, milestones, and key deliverables.
- Update schedules regularly to reflect current project status, progress, changes, and forecast dates.
- Monitor planned versus actual progress and identify schedule changes, trends, and potential areas of concern.
- Prepare scheduling reports and provide accurate project information to management and project teams.
- Coordinate with project team members to gather progress updates, confirm activity status, and maintain accurate schedule information.
- Support the identification of schedule risks, delays, and potential impacts and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Maintain appropriate scheduling documentation, records, and supporting information in accordance with project and company requirements.
- Apply established processes, procedures, systems, and tools to complete scheduling activities accurately and consistently.
- Review schedule information for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements.
- Communicate scheduling information, ideas, and recommendations clearly to project team members and stakeholders.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced team members when assigned.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of planning and scheduling processes, tools, and reporting.
- Work collaboratively with project, engineering, construction, and other functional teams to support successful project delivery.
What you’ll bring to the role
You will bring a practical understanding of project planning and scheduling, along with the ability to organize information, manage competing priorities, and work effectively with others.
- University degree or equivalent qualification in planning, scheduling, engineering, construction, project management, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
- Typically 3+ years of relevant planning or scheduling experience.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and updating engineering, construction, or project schedules.
- Understanding of project scheduling principles, including activity sequencing, durations, milestones, dependencies, progress tracking, and forecast dates.
- Ability to review project information, identify schedule impacts, and communicate relevant changes to the project team.
- Intermediate understanding of scheduling systems, processes, tools, and techniques relevant to the role.
- Ability to work with established procedures while using sound judgment when addressing routine scheduling issues.
- Strong attention to detail and a consistent approach to maintaining accurate project information.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with project team members, stakeholders, and other functional groups.
- Developing ability to influence and persuade others by presenting scheduling information clearly and providing practical recommendations.
- Ability to work independently on assigned activities while seeking technical guidance when needed.
- Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications and relevant project scheduling software.
- A proactive approach to identifying issues, asking questions, and finding practical solutions.
