Job Summary
This is a per diem position. Daily pay ranges from $1,500 to $1,501 per shift, depending on the type and timing of shifts worked. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, education, and internal equity.

Wound Care Physician – Moonlighting Opportunity

Position Overview

Salem Hospital, a member of Mass General Brigham, is seeking a Wound Care Physician for a flexible moonlighting opportunity to provide expert evaluation and management of patients with acute and chronic wounds in the inpatient setting.

The physician will work collaboratively with nursing, surgery, podiatry, vascular surgery, infectious disease, nutrition, rehabilitation, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to develop comprehensive wound management plans and promote optimal healing and patient outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a physician seeking flexible, part-time clinical work within a well-established academic health system.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform comprehensive evaluation of acute, chronic, surgical, pressure-related, diabetic, vascular, and other complex wounds.
- Develop and document individualized wound care treatment plans.
- Assess wound etiology, severity, progression, and healing potential.
- Recommend appropriate wound dressings, topical therapies, off-loading strategies, pressure injury prevention measures, and other interventions.
- Perform wound-related procedures within the physician's scope of practice and hospital privileges, as appropriate.
- Identify patients requiring consultation or intervention from surgery, vascular surgery, podiatry, infectious disease, or other specialties.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and hospital-based wound care specialists to ensure consistent implementation of treatment plans.
- Provide education to patients, families, and clinical staff regarding wound prevention and management.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions regarding complex wounds and patients at high risk for skin breakdown.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and comprehensive medical documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Practice in accordance with Salem Hospital and Mass General Brigham policies, clinical standards, and quality and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification or board eligibility in an appropriate specialty such as Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Podiatry, or another relevant specialty.
- Demonstrated clinical experience or specialized training in wound care preferred.
- Massachusetts medical license or eligibility for Massachusetts licensure.
- Eligible for medical staff privileges at Salem Hospital.
- Current BLS certification; additional certifications relevant to wound care are desirable.
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

- Chronic wound management
- Pressure injuries
- Diabetic foot wounds
- Venous and arterial ulcers
- Surgical wounds
- Complex or non-healing wounds
- Wound debridement
- Negative pressure wound therapy
- Off-loading and pressure injury prevention
- Multidisciplinary wound care

Schedule

Flexible moonlighting coverage based on hospital needs and physician availability.

Potential scheduling may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, or other mutually agreed-upon shifts . Specific shift expectations, patient volume, and coverage requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
