What you'll be doing…

As a Principal Engineer - Security Architecture of the Product Security - Developer Security and Enablement team, you will be driving security initiatives and engaging product development teams to ensure security is engrained throughout the development of Verizon products. You will partner with product and development teams to perform security architecture and design reviews, threat modeling, code and business logic reviews, and be the main driving force of security within the development community. Additionally, you will continuously assess workflows, leverage your engineering expertise to build automated processes and AI agents, and provide expert escalation support whenever automated solutions fall short.

You will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

Technical Leadership:

- Providing deep knowledge of software and security and articulating it effectively in both business and technical forums.
- Leading discussions with development teams to provide support, consultation, and information security subject matter expertise for security application and systems development, maintenance, and support.
- Evaluating security posture and providing recommendations for improvement and risk reduction
- Continually evaluating new threats and attacks specific to Web, API, Mobile, Cloud, IoT, and AI Systems to identify the impact on the business and help to develop and implement appropriate security controls.
- Driving the adoption of security as a shared responsibility by empowering product teams and with necessary knowledge and tools.

Engineering & Automation:

- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of programming languages, data architectures, and automation frameworks.
- Developing AI agents and automation tooling to streamline routine tasks, allowing focus on high-impact, complex security architectures.

What we're looking for…

You are a software engineer and architect at heart and embody the concept of secure by design. You weigh and manage risks to the business with business goals. You are adept at identifying root causes of problems and implementing sustainable solutions, always with a focus on improving the customer experience. Your excellent communication and organizational skills will enable you to manage competing priorities and drive meaningful change.

You'll need to have:

- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

- Experience in security background in multiple domains across Web, API, Containers, Mobile(Apple/Android), Cloud(AWS), IoT, Networking and AI.
- Product Development Experience (Software Development Life Cycle or how products go out the door).
- Experience with performing security requirements analyses to secure deployment of large Web, IoT, mobile and/or AI systems.
- Development experience in Swift, Java, Scala, Python, C/C++ or other languages and the ability to solve complex operational issues.
- Experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving within a complex technical environment.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

- Understanding of security vulnerabilities, penetration testing, and application security scanning tools (e.g., Fortify, Tenable).
- Experience using and  building AI systems and agentic workflows using technologies such as Claude Code Skills, LangChain or LangGraph
- Proficiency in mobile security and application development across iOS and Android platforms.
- Proven background in conducting penetration testing for mobile and web applications.
- Industry standard certification such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCSP, CCSK, GSEC, GIAC, GPEN
- Experience with Jira or similar project management tools for tracking and reporting.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and maturity models.
- Proven ability to engage with and influence product teams and leadership.
- Familiarity with the challenges of security debt and strategies for its reduction.

## Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $120,500.00 - $231,000.00.
