The LIV is the state's peak body for lawyers, representing more than 22,000 members. The LIV's purpose is to promote the highest standards of ethical and legal practice, education and service excellence in the practice and administration of law to ensure the community benefits from strong legal representation, effective advocacy and a fair and equitable legal and justice system.

About You

The Head of Technology is responsible for leading the LIVs technology strategy, digital transformation, and core systems that support the needs of our employees, our members and the legal profession. This role oversees the planning, delivery, security, and optimisation of all technology platforms.

The Head of Technology ensures that technology enables exceptional member experiences, operational efficiency, and organisational resilience. The role works closely with senior leaders across the organisation to plan and deliver secure, integrated, and future ready digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities Include

- Develop the organisation’s technology strategy aligned with organisational goals and the profession’s evolving digital needs.

- Lead technology planning and investment, ensuring systems and platforms are scalable, stable, and future‑focused.

- Oversee digital transformation programs, ensuring modern, intuitive, and accessible digital experiences for members and employees.

- Apply user experience (UX) and service design principles to improve the end‑to‑end member journey.

- Oversee core platforms critical to the organisation’s operations.

- Ensure systems are integrated, accurate, secure, and aligned with member lifecycle needs.

- Manage IT operations, service delivery, and internal support for staff and member-facing systems.

- Provide reliable and secure hardware, software, cloud services, and network infrastructure.

- Work with the Strategy team to develop the systems that support the uplift in the organisation’s use of data and insights.

- Lead, develop and manage high‑performing teams (both internal teams and key external service providers) that are focused on service excellence.

To be considered, you must demonstrate:

- Strategic leadership in technology within a complex or member-based organisations.

- Contemporary understanding of the use of Ai within relevant organisations.

- Strong understanding of digital experience design, CRM/data environments, and integration

- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with credibility across senior legal and executive audiences

- Ability to translate technical concepts into accessible language for non‑technical audiences

- Capability to lead teams through change and digital uplift

- 10+ years in technology leadership roles, including experience leading digital transformation

- Experience in a membership body, legal sector, or professional services environment is highly desirable

- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise systems such as CRM, CMS, CPD platforms, cloud environments, and integrations

- Tertiary qualifications in information technology, computer science, business systems, or related fields
