MF Professional Services, Inc. (MFPS) provides human resources, payroll, benefits administration, and operational support to mission-driven organizations. This position may perform services on behalf of MFPS clients, including Mi Familia Vota and Mi Familia en Accin.

Position Summary

MFPS is seeking eight Canvassers to conduct door-to-door voter outreach in McAllen and surrounding Rio Grande Valley communities.

Canvassers will travel through assigned neighborhoods, knock on doors, speak directly with community members, and provide approved information about voter registration, voter education, civic participation, and electoral engagement. Employees will use approved scripts, materials, and MiniVAN to document voter contacts and outreach results.

Although this position is classified as hybrid, it requires substantial in-person fieldwork and outdoor door-to-door canvassing throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

This is a temporary position. The duration of the assignment will depend on campaign timelines, available funding, and organizational needs. Temporary employment does not guarantee continued employment or an extension of the assignment.

Essential Responsibilities

- Conduct door-to-door canvassing within assigned McAllen and Rio Grande Valley communities.

- Engage community members respectfully using approved scripts, talking points, and campaign materials.

- Provide accurate information about voter registration, voter education, civic participation, and approved electoral initiatives.

- Support voter identification, registration, education, and Get Out the Vote activities as assigned.

- Respect individuals who decline to participate or request that an interaction end.

- Accurately record doors knocked, successful contacts, responses, voter-registration activity, and other assigned metrics.

- Use MiniVAN, VAN, mobile applications, or other approved field technology.

- Protect voter information and completed, incomplete, spoiled, and unused voter-registration forms.

- Return all forms, equipment, identification, and campaign materials according to established procedures and deadlines.

- Never falsify, alter, discard, withhold, or misuse voter-registration forms or voter information.

- Attend required launches, trainings, safety briefings, check-ins, and daily debriefings.

- Follow assigned turf, schedules, geographic boundaries, goals, and reporting requirements.

- Maintain regular communication and required check-ins with the Canvass Lead.

- Promptly report inaccessible turf, equipment problems, safety concerns, or community incidents.

- Follow property-access, solicitation, voter-registration, data-security, and field-safety procedures.

- Report injuries, threats, harassment, accidents, law-enforcement interactions, or unsafe conditions promptly.

- Treat community members, coworkers, supervisors, and members of the public with dignity and respect.

- Accept coaching, retraining, and constructive feedback.

- Accurately record all time worked and follow organizational attendance, timekeeping, meal-period, and rest-break procedures.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Previous door-to-door canvassing, voter-registration, campaign, community-outreach, organizing, customer-service, sales, or other public-facing experience preferred.

- Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.

- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable approaching and speaking with residents at their homes.

- Ability to follow scripts, instructions, turf assignments, reporting requirements, and safety procedures.

- Ability to remain professional during difficult or unexpected interactions.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete forms and records accurately.

- Ability to accept coaching and work independently and collaboratively as part of a field team.

- Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, MiniVAN, or comparable mobile application.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive voter and organizational information.

- Familiarity with McAllen and surrounding Rio Grande Valley communities preferred.

- Experience working with Latino or other diverse communities preferred.

- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.

- Ability to work flexible schedules, including daytime, evening, and weekend assignments.

- Ability to travel throughout McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley.

- Must satisfy any voter-registration eligibility, training, appointment, or certification requirements applicable in Texas.

Physical and Work Requirements

This position requires extended periods of walking and standing outdoors. The employee must be able to travel on foot through residential neighborhoods while navigating sidewalks, stairs, uneven surfaces, and varying terrain.

The position requires the ability to carry outreach materials weighing up to 25 pounds and regularly use a smartphone, clipboard, voter-registration forms, literature, and other field equipment.
