Clubhouse Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts Generalist

Job Summary

The Clubhouse Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) Generalist is a new position that will be part of the new HALI Clubhouse. The person in this role is a founding staff member and active participant in the Clubhouse community who combines required licensed professional responsibilities with the shared work of a Clubhouse Generalist. The role works side-by-side with Clubhouse members across work units and while supporting eligibility and documentation as needed. Grounded in HALI’s peer-run values and the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs, the LPHA/ Generalist helps create a voluntary, member-driven community built on belonging, choice, strengths, meaningful work, shared decision-making, and respectful relationships. The role applies licensed professional expertise with humility to support eligibility, documentation, health and safety, and member-directed goals while participating fully in the daily life and work of the Clubhouse.

Essential Responsibilities

Clubhouse Culture, Work-Ordered Day and Membership

- Strengthen a Clubhouse culture grounded in the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs, including voluntary lifetime membership, belonging, choice, meaningful participation, shared responsibility, and relationships shaped by members’ needs and goals

- Contribute daily to the work-ordered day by working side-by-side with members in units such as Business/Administration, Culinary, and Outreach. Help create real, necessary work and opportunities for members to choose how they participate, contribute their strengths, build confidence, and develop skills.

- As needed participate in and help develop recreational and social evening/weekend/holiday programming that strengthens connection and community.

- Support outreach and re-engagement efforts that help members remain connected to the Clubhouse community as needed, and partner with members on research and data collection that support learning and growth.

Enrollment, Documentation and Clinical Support

- Support prospective and current members through a welcoming enrollment process, including gathering required eligibility documents, person-centered assessments, and WRAP plans.

- Help members identify and connect with community resources and services that support their goals, including other HALI programs when appropriate.

- Complete LPHA recommendations and other required documentation in accordance with state and program requirements, including documentation that may be needed if Clubhouse services become Medicaid reimbursable.

Qualifications

Required Competencies/Skills

- Demonstrated commitment to the Clubhouse Model and to creating a voluntary, member-driven community grounded in belonging, choice, meaningful work, shared responsibility, and recovery.

- Ability to work side-by-side with members as a fully engaged Clubhouse Generalist while also fulfilling designated LPHA responsibilities, as needed.

- Ability to apply licensed professional knowledge with humility and in support of member-directed goals, strengths, and participation.

- Strong relationship-building skills, including mutuality, cultural humility, respect, curiosity, and comfort working collaboratively across differences.

- Ability to support shared decision-making and consensus-building while contributing appropriately to health, safety, eligibility, and documentation needs.

- Experience partnering with adults living with mental health and other complex life challenges in psychiatric rehabilitation, peer support, supportive housing, or other community-based recovery settings.

- Knowledge of person-centered, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and psychiatric rehabilitation practices.

- Ability to respond calmly and collaboratively to emerging concerns and crises while supporting advance planning, self-determination, and the use of WRAP or other member-directed approaches.

- Strong written, organizational, and communication skills, including the ability to complete required documentation accurately and on time.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, electronic health records, and other web-based systems.

Education, Experience, Licenses and/or Certifications

Required:

- Current, unencumbered NYS license as a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts: Physician, PA, NP (incl. Psychiatric NP), Psychiatrist, Psychologist, RN, LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, Licensed Psychoanalyst,

- At least three years of relevant experience in psychiatric rehabilitation, community mental health, peer support, supportive housing, or another recovery-oriented setting.

- Working knowledge of NYS OMH requirements, medical-necessity documentation, confidentiality, and behavioral health reporting requirements.

- Willingness to complete Clubhouse International training and other required psychiatric rehabilitation training.

Preferred:

- Previous experience in a Clubhouse or psychosocial rehabilitation program.

- Certification in Psychiatric Rehabilitation (CPRP).

- Personal lived experience of mental health challenges and/or recovery, consistent with HALI’s identity as a peer-run agency.

- New York State Peer Certification, full or provisional, including NYCPS or CRPA.

- Bilingual English/Spanish.

Physical Requirements:  Ability to perform routine office- and program-based work, including sitting, standing, walking throughout the Clubhouse, using standard office equipment, and occasionally lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
