About this role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in machine design, structural engineering, dynamic analysis, and vibration in the field of cell manufacturing. You will design, develop, and test robust mechanical systems, sub-systems, and equipment design. You will carry out simulations for vibration, find root cause, and provide solutions for vibration issues. Your core focus will include performing finite element analysis (FEA) and vibration evaluations. If you are a problem solver and love to contribute and grow in this fast-paced team environment, this is for you.
- Perform advanced CAE simulations to evaluate and enhance understanding the behavior of calendaring machines, structures, and various sub-systems under both static and dynamic events
- Develop state-of-the-art FEA models of the machines including roll to roll and slitting machines, and other sub-systems
- Lead design of specific sub-assemblies on next gen calendaring, lamination, and slitting equipment with focus on design robustness, precision, and serviceability
- Create 3D CAD models and develop detailed manufacturing drawings using GD&T and correct fits
- Perform load calculations to determine sizing of fasteners, beams, actuators, transmissions, and bearing elements
- Apply analytical methods including calculations and simulations for the design and optimization of structures and mechanical components
- Perform tolerance analysis to determine system impacts of assembly fits and develop specifications for custom automation equipment
- Lead design reviews at different design phases and develop specifications and accelerate test plans to validate the product for its determined lifetime
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Detailed and applied knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, materials science, and machine design concepts
- Preferred experience in standalone or coupled analysis of roll-to-roll machines for static, dynamic, and thermal analysis
- Demonstrated ability in iterative and collaborative engineering environments
- Success in roles requiring high levels of technical communication and interpretation of analytical results to design components and provide technical leadership
- Demonstrated ability to deconstruct complex test scenarios with good logic and analysis, root-causing, and resolving correlation issues
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with teams on problems that are challenging to solve and requiring innovative solutions
