Position Description – Accounting Manager APAC
Position Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity to lead financial accounting across a diverse APAC business covering Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
Reporting to the Financial Controller APAC, you will lead the regional accounting team and play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, effective controls and continuous improvement across APAC entities. You will work closely with Finance, Corporate functions and operational stakeholders to strengthen accounting processes and governance across the region.
Key Focus Areas the Role Will Include:
- Financial Reporting & Accounting: Lead APAC month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting, ensuring journals, accruals, provisions and balance sheet reconciliations are accurate, well supported and completed on time. Oversee statutory financial reporting and provide technical accounting guidance on accounting policies and reporting matters.
- Audit, Tax & Compliance: Coordinate external audits and ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule. Coordinate regional tax compliance with Corporate Tax and external advisers, including transfer pricing requirements. Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliations across APAC entities.
- Controls & Governance: Maintain effective internal controls across accounting processes, monitor control performance and ensure deficiencies are resolved appropriately. Support financial governance, risk management and audit readiness across the region.
- Sustainability & Assurance: Coordinate finance-related data and supporting evidence for APAC sustainability reporting and support internal and external assurance activities.
- People Leadership: Lead, coach and develop the APAC Accounting team, setting clear objectives and supporting development, succession planning and cross-training. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate accounting processes. Improve the use of ERP systems, BlackLine, Excel and reporting tools to enhance efficiency, data quality, controls and audit readiness.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications:
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
- CPA, CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including experience leading accounting teams.
- Experience in a multinational or multi-entity environment.
- Strong experience in financial and statutory reporting, external audit, internal controls and compliance.
- Working knowledge of tax compliance, transfer pricing and intercompany accounting.
- Experience with ERP, reconciliation and financial reporting systems, including strong Excel skills.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement and automation.
