About the Position

At HOLY, we like big ambitions and bold flavors - but delivering on them requires a rock-solid financial foundation. We are looking for a GL Accounting Manager who brings structure, accuracy, and ownership to our day-to-day accounting operations.

For us, accounting isn't just about keeping score; it is the basis that gives us the confidence to move fast. Your mission as our GL Accounting Manager is to keep our general ledger reliable, clean, and ready for decision-making. You will support a smooth month-end and year-end close, ensure postings and reconciliations are accurate, and help translate operational accounting into dependable financial reporting. This is a hands-on role for someone who is confident in core accounting work and wants to grow into broader ownership over time.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain the general ledger: Own defined GL accounts end-to-end, including postings, reconciliations, documentation, and follow-up on open items.
- Support the close: Prepare month-end and year-end close tasks such as accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Apply accounting logic: Review unclear or unusual bookings, ensure the Chart of Accounts is used consistently, and escalate topics where accounting treatment needs alignment.
- Partner with AP, AR, and FP&A: Work closely with operational accounting and FP&A so accounting data is timely, reliable, and useful for reporting.
- Improve daily workflows: Spot recurring issues, document practical fixes, and help build simple SOPs that make the close faster and more scalable.
- Support reporting and audits: Prepare schedules, documentation, and explanations for statutory reporting, tax topics, and external audits across our entities.

About You

You are structured, detail-oriented, and hands-on. You enjoy making the numbers clean, understandable, and reliable. You do not need to be the architect of the full accounting function yet, but you take ownership of your workstreams and are comfortable digging into postings, reconciliations, and accounting logic until things make sense.

- Degree or Ausbildung in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Tax, or a comparable qualification.
- 2+ years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in general ledger accounting, audit or tax advisory.
- Good knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and core accounting principles; experience with multi-entity setups is a plus. Initial experience with VAT-related matters is an advantage.
- You are confident with reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and month-end close routines.
- You are comfortable working with accounting systems and Excel/Google Sheets; DATEV experience is a plus.
- You bring a pragmatic, reliable, and detail-oriented working style and are not afraid to follow up until open items are resolved.
- You communicate clearly with Finance teammates and non-finance stakeholders in English; German is a strong plus, especially for invoices, auditors, tax advisors, or authorities.

The Process

As we are experiencing rapid growth and have ambitious plans, the optimal start date for the position is today. Nonetheless, we are prepared to patiently await the arrival of the ideal candidate, recognizing that quality ultimately yields the best results.

- Getting to know you: We will have a 30 minute screening interview where we will talk to you more about HOLY and the position and see if our expectations match.
- Hiring Manager interview wi th Felix: Our CFO will dive a bit deeper into your experience and details of the role.
- Case study & on-site interview: As soon as you have successfully completed the first interviews, you will receive a case study. In a second meeting at our office, the team will discuss your case study with you and answer questions about our workspace, the HOLY Temple.
- Reference calls: At this stage, we’d like to connect with 1–2 former colleagues or managers who have worked closely with you. These conversations help us better understand your working style and strengths from those who know you professionally.
- Founder Interview: As a strong cultural fit is important to us, you will have a final meeting with Fredi, one of our HOLY Founders. This gives both you and us the opportunity for a final check.
- Job offer and decision: If everything goes well, you will receive an offer and we are ready to embark you this journey together with you!
