Cooperates with: Manufacturing, Procurement, Purchasing, Customer Service

Location: Houston, TX

Primary Responsibility: Maintain visibility and urgency around open customer orders, ensure internal teams are aligned on priorities, and help remove obstacles that prevent orders from being completed and shipped on time. The Order Expeditor supports production flow, improves communication, reduces past-due orders, and helps strengthen overall delivery performance.

What You'll Do:

- Monitor open customer orders from entry through shipment, ensuring order status, production progress, material availability, and shipping readiness are accurately tracked.

- Coordinate daily with Production, Scheduling, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Quality, Customer Service, and Shipping to identify order risks and resolve delays.

- Expedite materials, components, documentation, work orders, and internal approvals needed to support customer delivery commitments.

- Review order priorities, due dates, production schedules, and backlog reports to determine which orders require immediate follow-up or escalation.

- Communicate order status updates, potential delays, revised completion dates, and recovery plans to internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

- Partner with Purchasing and Inventory Control to investigate material shortages, missing components, allocation issues, incorrect inventory records, or supplier-related delays.

- Work with Production leads to confirm work order progress, identify bottlenecks, and support schedule recovery when jobs fall behind.

- Support Shipping by confirming completed orders, resolving documentation issues, verifying readiness for shipment, and helping ensure deliveries are timely and accurate.

- Maintain accurate order tracking reports, backlog updates, delivery status logs, and performance metrics used to monitor order flow and delivery performance.

- Escalate critical issues to management when customer commitments, production schedules, or delivery timelines are at risk.

- Participate in production, scheduling, or order review meetings to provide updates on high-priority orders, past-due orders, and delivery risks.

- Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to order fulfillment, communication flow, production visibility, and on-time delivery performance.

How to Qualify:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, logistics, production planning, supply chain, customer service, order management, or related operational role preferred.

- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment with changing priorities and time-sensitive customer requirements.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple orders, deadlines, priorities, and follow-up items at the same time.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear updates across multiple departments.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

- Experience using ERP, MRP, inventory, order management, or production tracking systems preferred.

- Ability to identify problems, gather information, follow up with the appropriate teams, and drive issues toward resolution.
