The impact you’ll make
At Lam, as a Buyer, you play a pivotal role in our procurement process. You analyze purchase requirements and coordinate purchasing activities across departments to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of inventory. You'll support processing purchase requisitions, change orders, and quotes (RFQs) from suppliers. Engaging in cost analysis and volume planning within our enterprise-wide systems (ERPs), you negotiate for the best value and explore new supply sources for cost-saving. Your expertise ensures Lam's procurement remains efficient and competitive on a global scale.
What you’ll do
- Performs a variety of purchasing functions including analysing MRP demand and sending out RFQ’s, placing PO’s, proactively managing inventory shortages to meet Customer delivery schedules, working with suppliers to prioritize deliveries, acting as liaison between supplier and engineer with regards to troubleshooting part drawings redlines, etc.
- Responsible for procurement business systems data input and integrity
- Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues
- Main contact for customer and planning expedite requests. Establishes confirmed delivery commitments for parts required for status meetings when representing NPI purchasing.
- Resolve cost holds and AP discrepancies
- Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain to hold suppliers accountable to commitments and lead times
Who we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science with minimum of 6 years of related experience in New Product environment or a Master’s Degree.
- Experience in procurement and NPI environment with Material Planning, Logistics and Purchasing.
- SAP or relevant ERP and its transactions in Planning, MM and Logistics module
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and SharePoint.
Working Hours for this role:
- As per Business Need to Support the Global Pilot Procurement Ops with focus on US Region.
- Working Hrs : 3pm to 12am
Preferred qualifications
- Exp to purchase and buying in Manufacturing environment (With focus on NPI Build)
- Hands on in SAP (MM Module ) and related ERP tools
- Proficiency in MS Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate cross-functionally
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a desire to work as part of a team
- Basic understanding of supply chain process & tools including MRP
Desired Skills:
- Critical Thinking - be able to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information; understand the logical connection between ideas
- Problem solving: PS&DMP, Lean Six Sigma
- Collaboration – partner key stakeholders including SCM’s, SBM’s, and suppliers
- Ability to work in a High pressure environment
- Should be flexible to work as per business need

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
