Civil / Environmental Engineer (Water & Wastewater)

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Civil / Environmental Engineer to join our growing team and contribute to impactful water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Connecticut. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of municipal, commercial, and residential developments while collaborating with experienced engineers, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- Design civil and environmental engineering solutions for sanitary sewer collection systems, wastewater pump stations, on-site wastewater treatment systems, and potable water infrastructure .
- Apply Connecticut DEEP and Connecticut DPH regulations, design standards, and permitting requirements to support successful project execution and compliance.
- Develop detailed construction plans, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other industry-standard software.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, feasibility analyses, and permitting packages to support project planning, regulatory approvals, and client objectives.
- Generate project cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and budget forecasts throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
- Lead and coordinate local, state, and federal permitting efforts, including agency coordination and responses to review comments.
- Collaborate closely with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
- Assist project managers in presenting engineering solutions, permitting strategies, and technical findings to municipal boards, planning and zoning commissions, regulatory agencies, and clients.
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction observations to verify project conditions and support successful implementation.

Qualifications

Required:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Engineer-in-Training ( EIT ) certification.
- Experience with water and wastewater infrastructure design.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D and AutoCAD .
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, permitting processes, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred:

- Experience with sanitary sewer, wastewater collection, and treatment system design.
- Familiarity with Connecticut regulatory agencies and permitting requirements.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
