MBL Technologies is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Engineer to support the design, development, implementation, and security of complex information systems and cloud environments for a federal client. This individual will provide technical expertise across cybersecurity architecture, security engineering, cloud security, and system authorization activities to ensure solutions meet federal cybersecurity requirements and support mission objectives.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting cybersecurity and cloud security initiatives within large federal environments and can translate customer requirements into effective technical security solutions. The Cybersecurity Engineer will collaborate with government stakeholders, system owners, architects, engineers, developers, and cybersecurity teams throughout the system development and authorization lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, implement, and maintain cybersecurity solutions for enterprise IT and cloud environments.
- Provide technical expertise in security architecture, security engineering, and cloud security across the system lifecycle.
- Translate customer, mission, and cybersecurity requirements into actionable technical and engineering requirements and communicate them effectively to technical teams.
- Support and manage IT and cloud design, security, development, systems engineering, integration, and implementation efforts.
- Evaluate system architectures and technical solutions to identify cybersecurity risks, security gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and recommend security architecture and engineering solutions that align with federal cybersecurity requirements and industry best practices.
- Support federal Assessment and Authorization (A&A) and Authority to Operate (ATO) activities.
- Implement and assess cybersecurity requirements in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP).
- Support the development, implementation, and assessment of security controls across traditional and cloud-based environments.
- Develop and maintain technical and security documentation required to support system authorization and compliance activities.
- Collaborate with system owners, architects, engineers, developers, cybersecurity personnel, and other stakeholders to integrate security throughout system design and implementation.
- Support the identification, analysis, and remediation of cybersecurity vulnerabilities and technical security risks.
- Ensure systems and solutions align with applicable federal cybersecurity policies, processes, standards, and frameworks.
- Provide technical guidance and cybersecurity engineering recommendations to project teams, program leadership, and government stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen security architecture, system resilience, compliance, and overall cybersecurity posture.

Required Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

- Minimum of 5 years of Information Security experience, including at least 1 year of Cybersecurity and Cloud Security experience supporting a large government agency comparable in size and scope to GSA, IRS, DoD, or VA.
- Demonstrated expertise in security architecture and security engineering.
- Experience with project management and the ability to translate customer requirements into technical requirements and effectively communicate them to project and engineering teams.
- Experience managing or supporting IT and cloud design, security, development, systems engineering, and implementation efforts.
- Demonstrated expertise with cybersecurity and security solutions within federal and/or commercial environments.
- Experience supporting federal Assessment and Authorization (A&A) and Authority to Operate (ATO) activities.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity architecture, engineering, and authorization requirements, including FedRAMP and RMF.
- Strong understanding of applicable federal cybersecurity policies, processes, standards, and frameworks.
- Ability to evaluate complex technical environments, identify security risks, and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, program, and client-facing teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a High-Risk Public Trust clearance.

Education & Certification:

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration - Business Management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Information Resource Management, or a related field.
- Certification in one or more of the following: Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level III, Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level III, Information Assurance System Architects and Engineers (IASAE) Level III.
- IAT III, IAM III, or IASAE III certification may be substituted for the relevant bachelor’s degree requirement or four years of relevant experience, as permitted by the position requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience supporting cybersecurity engineering initiatives within large federal agencies.
- Experience designing and securing cloud-based or hybrid enterprise environments.
- Experience integrating cybersecurity requirements throughout the system development lifecycle.
- Experience developing or maintaining security documentation supporting A&A, ATO, RMF, and FedRAMP activities.
- Knowledge of federal cybersecurity governance, risk management, compliance, and continuous monitoring processes.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with government clients and translate mission and business requirements into secure technical solutions.
