About Alia by Dotdigital: Alia is a popup and engagement platform built for Shopify and e-commerce brands helping, merchants grow their email and SMS lists and drive more revenue from their existing traffic. We were bootstrapped to $10M+ ARR and 4,000+ merchant customers before being acquired by Dotdigital, a global marketing automation leader. We’re now scaling as part of a bigger platform, with the speed and hustle of a startup team.
About the Role
We're looking for a Retention Partner Manager to own the ongoing education and enablement of our existing agency partners. This is a retention-focused role, distinct from new-business work: your job is to grow the size and volume of business our current partners already send us, not to bring new agencies into the program.
We work with hundreds of existing agency partners and they bring in about 60% of our revenue – they are a very important part of our business. Our Partner Manager Business Development Reps handle new-business work — bringing agencies into the partner program, onboarding them, and getting them to install Alia on their first client. This role picks up from there. Once an agency partner is in and active, your job is to get that same agency installing Alia across as many of their other relevant clients as possible.
What you'll do
- Support the education and enablement of all our entire agency partner network while simultaneously leaning proactively into those that warrant deeper investment based on their growth potential
- Proactively educate and engage all partners through initiatives like Lunch & Learns, sales enablement sessions, educational workshops and more
- Initiate co-marketing efforts for warranted partners, such as joint case studies, white papers, webinars, blog posts, social promotion and more
- Keep partners fully informed on new feature releases and other updates relevant to their ability to refer business
- Effectively work cross-functionally within the team to coordinate with appropriate departments across sales, product and support where needed to provide adequate support for agency partners
- Maintain a revenue mindset around enabling and activating partners
What we're looking for
Account Management Experience
- Proven experience managing ongoing partner, client, or account relationships post-sale — this is a retention and growth role, not new business
- Track record of growing revenue or engagement within an existing book of accounts, not just maintaining the status quo
- E-commerce experience is not required, but experience in a partner, channel, or customer success function is preferred
Strategic Prioritization
- Strategic mindset for triaging a large portfolio (hundreds of agency partners) — able to assess signals (engagement, referral activity, client installs) to decide who to invest time in first and why
- Comfortable moving fluidly between high-touch work with priority partners and lighter-touch, scalable engagement for the long tail
- Data-informed approach to segmenting partners by potential (e.g., book-of-business size, current activity level, growth trajectory)
Partner Education & Enablement
- Experience designing and running partner education programs — webinars, lunch & learns, enablement content, onboarding-to-advocacy journeys
- Skilled at identifying patterns and common pain points across multiple partners and translating them into improved resources, content, or programs
- Able to build scalable enablement assets (playbooks, templates, FAQs) so growth isn't dependent on 1:1 time alone
Communication Skills
- Excellent written communication — this role runs heavily on written enablement content, email, and educational materials
- Strong verbal communication on video calls and in live presentations (webinars, trainings)
- Experience with co-marketing content such as case studies, blog posts, or joint content that gives partners a reason to promote Alia
Organization & Execution
- Highly organized and efficient; strong multitasker capable of managing outreach, content creation, and relationship tracking simultaneously across hundreds of partners
- Comfortable operating with a CRM or tracking system to monitor partner health, engagement stage, and next actions
- Self-directed and proactive — able to identify who needs attention without waiting to be told
Why join us
We’re a bootstrapped startup that grew to $13M+ ARR without taking VC money, and we were recently acquired, giving the team stability and resources while keeping the startup speed and culture intact. Knowing that revenue from agency partners represents about 60%+ of our revenue, you'd be building the retention motion for a partner program that already has hundreds of active agency relationships. That's real, largely untapped upside, and you'd own the strategy for unlocking it, working closely with the Director of Agency Partnerships as they hand you the reins on day-to-day partner management.
