About this role
The PRN Pharmacy Technician provides as-needed technical and operational support for pharmacy services in a hospital setting. Supports medication preparation, procurement, distribution, and storage in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards. Responsibilities may include sterile compounding, medication preparation, inventory support, and operation of automated dispensing systems to promote safe and effective medication use. The PRN Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy operations based on variable scheduling, patient volume, and operational demand while upholding the mission, vision, and values of MSRH. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with professional standards and practices.
- Knowledge of medication names, medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and pharmacy operations.
- Ability to prepare medications, including sterile and hazardous compounds, in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.
- Ability to operate automated dispensing equipment and pharmacy systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in medication preparation, labeling, and distribution.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proficiency in computer systems and ability to document accurately in accordance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Ability to adapt to variable schedules, workload demands, and changing priorities typical of PRN assignments.
