Scaler Operator - Underground Limestone Mine

What You'll Be Doing

- Operate scaling equipment to remove loose rock and debris from mine walls and ceilings.
- Conduct regular inspections of mine areas to identify and address potential hazards.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on scaling equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
- Support the mining team with various tasks as needed.
- Work in an underground environment with heights of 27 feet and a temperature between 50-60 degrees.

- Must be able to operate scaling/bolting equipment safely and efficiently in a tight, underground environment
- Must be able to conduct and document pre-operational safety inspections on assigned equipment
- Must be able to visually evaluate roof and rib conditions
- Communicate repair and safety issues to supervisor and/or mechanic
- Available to work Saturdays and overtime as business demands dictate
- Must be punctual and have reliable transportation to and from work
- Must perform within the guidelines of federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
- Other job duties as assigned

Conditions of Employment

- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
- Some positions require FMCSA regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.

Work Environment

- Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
