Houseman

Position Summary:

Responsible for the cleanliness of the public and guest areas of the hotel and restaurant.

Essential Job Functions:

- Responsible for the cleaning of corridors, guest areas, service areas and linen closets.

- Empty housekeepers' trash and linen bags.

- Carries trash to dumpster.

- Vacuums corridors and/or guestrooms.

- Delivers rollaway and cribs to guestrooms.

- Stocks supplies needed for linen closets.

- Vacuums public areas.

- Sweeps and mops service landings.

- Vacuums vending machine areas and keeps machines clean.

- Checks all public restrooms for cleanliness several times daily.

- Checks each floor to make sure fire doors are open.

- Checks elevators for cleanliness.

- Assists with luggage handling.

- Cleans rooms when needed.

- Checks lights and changes bulbs.

- Maintains outside grounds daily.

- Removal of snow and shoveling.

- Maintains all houseman equipment and organizes supplies

- Assists in the unloading of deliveries and the proper storage of such.

- Assists in the cleanliness and maintenance of dining and banquet rooms

- Assists in set up for banquet functions.

- Requires ability to communicate orally with guests and co-workers.

- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities

- Must display very good organization and time management skills

- To always maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance

Minimum Knowledge:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Must speak, read, and write proficient English

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.
