Job Summary:

The Head of Specialty Banking (HSB) is responsible for leading the Bank's Specialty Banking Group by developing and executing strategies that generate profitable commercial deposit relationships while building a high-performing sales organization. The HSB is accountable for recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and developing Business Banking Officers (BBOs) to achieve production, profitability, referral development, Treasury Management, and cross-selling objectives.

The HSB also serves as a senior business development officer responsible for cultivating strategic relationships with escrow companies, title companies, 1031 exchange accommodators, property management companies, commercial real estate professionals, CPAs, attorneys, financial advisors, and other centers of influence throughout California.

Working closely with Treasury Management, Commercial Lending, SBA Lending, Portfolio Management, and Deposit Services, the Head of Specialty Banking ensures every deposit relationship becomes a profitable full commercial banking relationship.

Essential Functions:

- Develop and execute the annual strategic business plan for the Specialty Banking Group, including production goals, recruiting, referral development, sales management, Treasury Management growth, profitability, and relationship expansion.

- Recruit, coach, mentor, motivate, and develop Business Banking Officers while creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance.

- Expand weekly sales management to include pipeline reviews, CRM discipline, calling activity, prospect development, deposit funding, Treasury Management production, cross-selling, and scorecard accountability.

- Expand business development efforts across escrow companies, title companies, 1031 exchange accommodators, property management companies, manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, professional service firms, and service companies.

- Develop strategic referral relationships with CPAs, attorneys, escrow associations, title associations, property management associations, financial advisors, and industry associations.

- Partner with Treasury Management, Commercial Lending, SBA Lending, Portfolio Management, and Deposit Services to maximize cross-selling opportunities and establish profitable full banking relationships.

- Develop and execute a continuous recruiting strategy to attract, hire, onboard, train, and retain high-performing Business Banking Officers.

- Conduct regular coaching sessions, annual performance evaluations, and individualized development plans for each Business Banking Officer.

- Prepare and present monthly production forecasts, pipeline reports, Treasury Management production, scorecard performance, referral activity, and departmental results to executive management.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

- Demonstrated success leading a commercial banking sales organization.

- Proven ability to recruit, coach, and develop top-performing Business Banking Officers.

- Strong strategic planning and business development skills.

- Experience managing sales pipelines and CRM accountability.

- Extensive knowledge of Treasury Management products and commercial deposit solutions.

- Established relationships within specialty deposit industries.

- Experience partnering with Commercial Lending and SBA Lending teams to build full banking relationships.

- Must be results driven, self-motivated, self-disciplined, a problem solver, and creative.
