SAP Financial Reporting and Taxation Business Process Expert

Role Summary

Corteva Agriscience is looking for an SAP Business Process Expert (BPE) to be part of the Digital & Platforms ERP Finance team.  The BPE will be responsible for designing, configuring, testing, and maintaining the S/4HANA and other connected SAP/non-SAP Finance applications during the entire applications’ lifecycle.

The role includes strong knowledge of Finance business processes globally with focus on General Ledger (GL), Central Finance (cFIN), Legal Reporting (including BPC – Business Planning & Consolidation), and Global & regional Tax applications, and their integration with other RTR, OTC & PTP processes , supporting SAP-centric global template solutions . The position is a key liaison between our ERP solutions, the line-of-business teams and the business product owner. This position defines and drives the tactical, day-to-day aspects of discovering, validating, documenting and mapping business processes to ERP solutions through modeling, simulating and analyzing current and future states.

The BPE must be able to bridge the IT and business domains and effectively communicate between each side. The BPE will thoroughly understand the Corteva AgriscienceTM Finance, Controlling and Taxation business strategy and processes to effectively participate in delivering the Finance Product Roadmap.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

- Primary IT point of contact across S/4HANA global implementation spanning multiple countries over North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific for SAP Finance.

- Assist business in mapping local Financial, Controllership & Taxation processes to Global Template in S/4HANA. Assist in definition of functional and non-functional system requirements. Initial focus would be on processes covering GL, cFIN, Legal Reporting (including BPC), and Global & regional SAP & non-SAP Tax applications.

- Work with other ERP and IT BPEs, Solution Engineers and with Architects across IES platforms, to help re-imagine the processes and best way to implement while meeting compliance, security, performance, cost, maintainability and interoperability requirements. Understand end-to-end process flow, while being responsible to implement the scope determined within ERP purview.

- Translate process design to systems design on the SAP S/4HANA platform , including on RISE components and SAP Cloud enabled solutions like SAP DRC, BRF+, TDF, SAP Business Data Cloud, or Group Reporting .

- Write system design documents, including detailed design, technical design, update requirements traceability, and test scenarios, cases.

- Implementation of legal, statutory, regulatory or tax-driven reporting changes to ERP via projects or enhancements, including integration with bolt-on or 3rd-party applications similar to BlackLine , Hyperion, DRC and Tax calcluation and Reporting platforms from OneSource, Edicom, Sovos and the likes.

- Definition and configuration of system functionality required to meet system design.

- Ability to configure and setup GL, and cFIN functionality, with experience in resolving AIF or SLT errors.

- Ability to configure Tax calculation processes including Tax Procedures, Tax types (VAT, Withholding, Sales and Use), Tax codes, Condition Types, Access Sequences, and integration within Pricing procedures.

- Ability to configure and setup SAP DRC processes for Tax calculation and reporting.

- Ability to design and configure BPC reporting, dimensions, characteristics, key figures; Design and configure upstream and downstream integration with SAP & non-SAP Business Warehouse and Data Lake solutions, or front-end reporting solutions like PowerBI or Alteryx.

- Perform functional and non-functional testing of reporting solutions in meeting requirements, including unit-testing, SIT, UAT, regression testing, and performance testing.

- Identify & define process and systems’ dependencies while implementing new SAP functionality in the context of ongoing enterprise business and IT initiatives.

- Write functional design documents detailed at SAP table-field level, and work with developers to explain technical requirements.

- Manage the periodic SAP upgrade process through evaluation, regression testing, and deployment.

- Able to help with SAP Financial Reporting Security role definition, and SAP authorization objects.

- Able to help with Cross-platform AI, Automation, Reporting and Analytics projects from end-to-end data lineage, security, and semantics perspective for ERP system-of-record data.

- Assist with hands-on resolution and escalation of Production issues or business-disruptions, where necessary.

- Maintenance of global SAP solutions and systems through end-of-life as they get replaced by S/4HANA.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

- Articulate with verbal and written communication skills in English. Possesses strong presentation skills for a global audience.

- Prior domain or functional experience with Finance, Controlling or Taxation preferred.

- Prefer past solution architecture experience demonstrating understanding and handling of Finance, Controlling and Taxation business process design and SAP Finance integration experience with other ERP processes (OTC, PTP, Manufacturing) and non-SAP business applications.

- Ability to research requirements, solutions, evaluate alternative approaches, and present recommended solution using SAP/non-SAP or ERP-augmentation technologies .

- Ability to independently design and configure SAP Finance processes. Initial focus would be on GL, cFIN, BPC, Tax applications and their integration with RTR, OTC, and PTP.

- Strong attention to detail and quality/accuracy of deliverables, preferring outcomes over outputs.

- Demonstrated effectiveness and ability to work independently, and drive results with peers, stakeholders, and customers.

- Acts honestly and professionally, ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

- Ability to prioritize and multitask under minimal supervision, and respond with flexibility towards tight project deadlines or issues impacting production operations.

- Decisive ability to recognize when to act and when to escalate.

- Experience working with shared services preferred.

- Prior experience working with Big4 SAP system integrators, and on multi-country SAP environments preferred.

Experience and Education Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field required.

- CPA and/or advanced accounting degree preferred.

- ~10 years of experience on SAP Finance. Number of years of experience may be lowered for candidates with relevant experience in S/4HANA implementation for large clients or former Big4 consultants. Prefer SAP certified professionals.

The salary range for this position is $120,000.00 to $160,000.00.
This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
