About Our Opportunity

As a Clerk 3, you will work as part of a provincial team which is lead by the Regional Services Manager. You will serve as frontline contact with clients and general public for the Antigonish Regional Office and must be perceptual in interpreting requests for information and re-directing to appropriate staff. You will also receive analytical lab samples that will need to be packaged and sent to the Truro lab using a same day courier service. You will be responsible for billing and receiving payments using a point of sale (POS) transaction machine. You will also collect and deliver cheques as required.

You will be responsible for arranging meetings; maintaining client contact lists for dissemination of information in a timely manner; maintain an organized inventory of resource materials; maintaining a current filing system for the region using the STAR/STOR system. You will be required to prepare routine and non-routine correspondence, memos, reports, etc. on behalf of the regional office staff and the Manager of your division.

You will receive, classify, reconcile, consolidate and/or summarise documents and information. You will also be required to prepare reports related all sales transactions and account payments for laboratory services on a required interval and maintain required training for use of this machine on an annual basis. You will also code and prepare invoices for approval before sending to your Manager/Director for approval and payment. Follows established procedures to purchase, monitor and maintain inventory. You will order and receive goods, while ensuring proper procurement procedures are followed.

About You

You have at least a high school education with 3 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.

In addition to the above, you must:

- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Have proficient typing skills and a sound working knowledge of computers

- Have a proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite of programs and Outlook

- Possess initiative and good judgement

- Have excellent organizational and administrative skills, and a thorough knowledge of secretarial procedures.

- Be organized and able to prioritize a diverse workload

- Possess proofreading skills – writing and grammar

- Be available to work on short notice

In addition to the above, the following would be considered assets to your success:

- Knowledge of the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture

- Experience with SAP and STAR/STOR

Pay Grade: CL 18

Salary Range: $26.40 - $29.54 Hourly
