Production Assistant

The Fine Arts Production Assistant supports the theater director in turning a script into a fully realized stage production. This is a hands-on, highly varied role that spans creative planning, hands-on building, materials sourcing, and crew leadership. The Production Assistant should encourage students to have the mind of Christ even when under pressure and close deadlines. This person must be spiritually mature and shall instill a life of Faith, Character, and Academic Excellence in the life of our students and faculty while modeling our mission of fostering a life of faith and service.

- Ability to read and analyze scripts from a production standpoint, identifying scenic, prop, costume, and technical requirements.

- Previous theatre production, performance, or technical theatre experience preferred.

- Collaborate with the director on scenic design, costume concepts, and creative production planning.

- Research, source, and coordinate materials, props, and set construction solutions.

- Serve as liaison to construction teams, answering build questions and troubleshooting issues.

- Build, modify, repair, and adapt set pieces and props as needed.

- Lead volunteer and student crews by assigning tasks and managing project timelines.

- Coordinate backstage logistics, including set placement, prop organization, and scene changes.

- Supervise backstage crew operations during rehearsals and performances.

This position may be filled on a per-production basis. Applicants are not required to commit to all productions during the school year and may indicate which show(s) they are available to support.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Strong technology skills (Canva & Excel)

- Creative problem-solving and resourcefulness

- Experience with construction and fabrication, including the safe use of hand and power tools, and the ability to troubleshoot technical, engineering, and build-related challenges.

- Demonstrates strong project management skills and effectively prioritizes and manages multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

- Leads teams, delegates responsibilities, and coordinates volunteers to achieve project goals.

- Applies strong spatial reasoning and attention to detail when planning, organizing, and executing projects.

- Communicates and collaborates effectively with directors, construction teams, crew members, and volunteers.

- Thrives in a fast-paced production environment and consistently meets established deadlines.

- Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

- Be a minimum of 18 years of age and pass a criminal history record check.

- Have a valid driver's license and be insurable.

- Reliable transportation to and from work.
