About this role
SUMMARY
This position is responsible to safely operate a tractor-trailer semi-truck to deliver finished goods to customers and pick up components or materials from suppliers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a valid driver and Class A CDL License and follow DOT licensing and certifications.
- Maintain a clean MVR to allow insurability for a commercial vehicle
- Operate a tractor-trailer semi-truck safely in all driving conditions.
- Obey and follow all traffic laws, DOT and FMCSA regulations at all times.
- Utilize Motive software to log trip information following hours of service regulations.
- Utilize Motive software to enter pre-trip vehicle inspections noting any vehicle defects.
- Complete annual training for drivers using Fleetworthy/Carriers edge software
- Operate a rolling tarp system on a flatbed trailer.
- Utilize straps/winches to properly secure cargo.
- Transport company product to job sites with the US.
- Transport, pickup, and delivery of parts and equipment as needed within the US
- Safely maneuver truck/trailer into loading and unloading positions.
- May be required to load/unload cargo from flatbed trailer by hand or utilizing a fork truck
- Comply with all safe work practices, procedures, processes, and regulations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent, Class A CDL license with airbrakes. At least 1 year of tractor trailer/CDL driving experience. Knowledge of the applicable DOT and FMCSA regulations and requirements. Previous experience with an ELD/GPS equipment and software preferred. Microsoft Outlook experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze business documents such as BOLs, packing slips, DOT instructions, scale tickets, and route instructions. Ability to write and respond to email correspondence for load details. The capabilities to speak effectively and communicate with customers, loaders, vendors, law enforcement, safety enforcement and other drivers. Requires interaction with various areas such as Accounting, Manufacturing, Shipping, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Sales etc.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Demonstrates the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition and subtraction to calculate load capacity and weight limits.
REASONING ABILITY
Needs the ability to work independently to solve problems that may arise due to truck issues, road detours, traffic delays, weather conditions, etc. Needs the ability to adapt to changing driving conditions or unexpected situations that could result from traffic and/or weather-related conditions.

The employee is regularly required to sit and maintain awareness while driving for long hours. The employee is regularly required to overnight in a sleeper berth in a tractor-cab. The employee is required to drive in all weather and traffic conditions. The employee may be required to work outside while loading and securing the cargo.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, sit, kneel, crouch, speak and hear. The employee is required to reach with arms, hands, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move greater than 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and color vision.
OTHER
Must have valid driver's license and Class A CDL license with air-brake endorsement. Must be able to work flexible hours. May need to travel 100% of the time.
