General Purpose of the Job

We're looking for a Healthcare Copywriter to own the words on our website — making sure patients, caregivers, and other important audiences can quickly find and understand the information they need. You'll write and edit web content, improve accessibility and readability, maintain and audit existing pages, and contribute to a new, repeatable content creation process for the team going forward as we work to modernize and optimize our web site.

Patients often come to our website stressed, confused, or searching for urgent answers. Clear, accessible, well-maintained content isn't just good writing. It directly affects whether someone finds the care they need. This role sits at the intersection of communication, empathy, and process, with real impact on patient experience.

This role is a strong fit for someone who loves translating complex or clinical information into content that's clear, warm, and easy to act on, while staying accurate and compliant with healthcare communication standards. You’ll also contribute to developing and creating new processes, best practices and educating partners as we modernize our ways of working along our web site.

Success in this role over the next 12-18 months will include contributing to launching a new content governance and creation process, ensuring we are aligning to and have thoroughly documented best practices for SEO/GEO/AI Visibility, accessibility and readability, and improving content performance (discoverability, engagement, etc.)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Content Creation & Editing

- Write and edit website copy including educational articles, condition/treatment pages, patient resources, FAQs, and landing pages

- Simplify complex medical and clinical information into plain language without losing accuracy

- Collaborate with clinical staff, subject matter experts, and legal/compliance reviewers to ensure content is both accurate and understandable

- Adapt tone and reading level for different audiences (patients, caregivers, providers, corporate, etc.)

- Create content outlines of net new pages based on stakeholder RTBs to inform optimal UX/UI designs

Customer Journey

- Ensure our content is thought of holistically and integrated into the rest of the site through placements and linking

- Prioritize content and linking created for new journeys to help visitors path through key information based on the next best action(s)

- Ensure CTAs are clear and compelling for pathing visitors through the site experience and improve engagement

- Act as the voice of customer to support optimal journeys and next best actions vs creating pages in a silo

- Incorporating user insights and trends to create and augment journeys

Accessibility & Usability

- Write and structure content to meet WCAG accessibility guidelines (headings, alt text, link text, readable formatting)

- Apply plain-language and health literacy best practices.

- Improve site navigation and information architecture from a content perspective to  ensure people can find what they need in as few steps as possible

- Partner with UX/design on how content is organized, labeled, and displayed

Content Maintenance

- Make simple copy updates within the CMS

- Conduct regular content audits to identify outdated, inaccurate, or underperforming pages, following our content governance calendar

- Monitor content performance (search, engagement, feedback) and revise accordingly

- Consolidate and optimize content as part of content governance and optimization

Process Development

- Contribute to the design and documentation of a scalable content creation workflow

- Help create style guides, templates, and content standards so future content stays consistent

Cross Functional Collaboration

- Collaborate closely with the AI Visibility & SEO Manager to incorporate important copy and structure needed to improve search

- Partner with the Analytics team to optimize content performance

- Train other contributors (marketing, clinical staff) on content standards and the process

Education and Requirements

Requirements:

- 3+ years of copywriting or content strategy experience, ideally in healthcare, medical, wellness, or another regulated/technical industry

- A portfolio showing you can turn complex information into clear, accessible content

- Familiarity with plain-language writing principles and web accessibility standards (WCAG)

- Experience working with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, or similar)

- Strong collaboration skills — comfortable working with clinicians, compliance/legal reviewers, and designers

- Experience building or improving a content workflow or editorial process

- Excellent attention to detail, especially around accuracy and consistency in a healthcare context

Preference For:

- Familiarity with HIPAA-related content considerations

- SEO/GEO fundamentals for healthcare content

- Experience with content audits or health literacy assessment tools

- Basic understanding of UX writing or information architecture

Language Skills : Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.

Physical Demands: Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following activities:

- Ability to lift minimum of 5 lbs to a max of 50 lbs unassisted and able to stand, sit, stoop, walk, stretch, reach, and use full range of body motions.

- Manual dexterity as required for specific equipment and ability to use computer keyboard and peripherals.

The Salary Range for the role is $57,784.00 - $65,000.00 per year.
