Job Description Summary

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for providing administrative and project support to one or more functional areas of Human Resources, such as recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compensation administration, training, and employee recognition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

- Assist and coordinate recruitment and onboarding of new team members, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and coordinating orientation for internal / external applicants and new employees.

- Assist with the HR Data entry within Paycom to include the processing transfers, pay changes, HR corrections and other personnel data entry.

- Respond to routine questions on human resources policies and procedures. Triage more complex questions / issues to Human Resources Managers.

- Perform duties involving the creation of employee communications including posters, multimedia, and Paycom communications.

- Assist with team member recognition programs.

- Assist department management in special Human Resources projects, such as policy updates and process improvements.

- Responsible for all aspects of record keeping and compliance associated with benefits plans.

- Assist Tribal Benefits Manager with administrative duties.

- Must be able to effectively communicate all features of active benefits programs.

- Collaborates with the Human Resources Manager and Director on the implementation of policies and procedures relative to benefits.

- Reviews invoices for accuracy and submits to Accounts Payable for payment.

- Submit and process check requests.

Promotion /Transfer Requests and New Hire and Transfer/Promotion Personal Action Notice.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Experience

- 2-3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, business administrative support, or related field preferred.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

- Strong written skills to draft emails, policy updates, and employee announcements.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, with a strong emphasis on Excel, and Copilot. Expertise with Paycom preferred.

- Must be able to communicate effectively in English; bilingual fluency in Spanish preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to stand, move and work throughout the

office area and properties, including walking up to 1 ½ mile, climbing stairs and sitting at a desk/work

station for the duration of the shift.

Typically, the individual will be housed in an office environment. Must be able to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a minimum of 25 lbs. on an intermittent basis, and sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including, but not limited to:  a computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment and multi-line telephone.
