Our Mission Systems sector is seeking an Engineering Technician 2  to join Systems Engineering and Test Team in San Diego, Ca.

We are seeking a self‑starting Engineering Technician 2 to provide hands‑on technical support to engineering teams working on complex electronic and electrical systems. The ideal candidate has practical experience with electronic components and tactical communications equipment, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to independently execute and document formal test activities.

Basic Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent plus relevant technical training and 2+ years of related experience.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established processes and procedures
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for documenting test results and collaborating with engineers and other technicians
- Self-starter who is able to work with minimal direction
- This position requires having a current active Government Secret Clearance
- Demonstrated ability to understand both the general and detailed aspects of assigned work and apply that understanding to typical problems and situations

Preferred Qualifications:

- Team leadership experience
- Ability to interpret Drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, schematics)
- Use personal computers and standard engineering software tools to perform analyses and generate documentation and reports
- Conduct mechanical and electrical tests on: Standalone line‑replaceable units (LRUs), Individual component‑level hardware
- Record and organize test data to support engineering evaluation, analysis, and design verification
- Experience with reading and interpreting technical documents, drawings, and process procedures
- Ability to interface with various support organizations and management
- Support troubleshooting activities for electronic and electrical systems and components.
- Assist with configuration, setup, and operation of test benches and fixtures as required

- Moderate working knowledge of electronic and electrical components, including: Tactical Radios and communications equipment, AC/DC power systems and power distribution equipment

- Strong troubleshooting skills for electronic and electrical hardware, including fault isolation and root‑cause identification
- Practical experience using diagnostic test equipment, such as: Digital Multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers and power meters.

Primary Level Salary Range: $56,000.00 - $93,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
